MIAMI FLA. EARLY 80'S. OLD DOLPHIN STADIUM. ALL DAY OUTDOORS WITH , BRYAN ADAMS, SAMMY HAGAR, AEROSMITH, AND JOURNEY. UNFORGETABLE SHOW. ALSO GUNS N ROSES AT M.S.G . SOUNDGARDEN OPENED THE SHOW. SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT AXL. THAT NIGHT THEY WERE ON TOP OF THIER GAME. A FLAWLESS SHOW. I WAS GOING TO RECORD IT BUT I SET OFF THE METAL DETECTORS AND HAD TO TOSS THE RECORDER.
My wife and I went to Topeka, KS in February and paid to be part of a weekend with KANSAS that will be commemorated on DVD to be released this fall. We participated in the tech rehearsal on Friday night which included former members Steve Morse and Kerry Livgren. I had the chance to spend 15 minutes chatting with Steve, and was not the least bit disappointed to find him warm, humble, funny, clever and to be in possession of far more talent than one person should be allowed. Morse donned the violin and played along with David Ragsdale's viola on "Dust In The Wind". Who knew Steve was a great violinist ???
We had our pictures taken with the band Saturday afternoon and were given lanyards and t-shirts commemorating the event. That night we had primo seats in the seventh row, center, and will each receive a copy of the DVD. Technically, this was not just a show it was a two day "event" and we enjoyed evey single moment of it. Not only was the band in top form, but there was none of the usual corporate half-wit nonsense that causes people to throw tantrums, lose years off their lives, and decide to simply stay home for the rest of their lives.
I can honestly say that it was as near perfect a live music event as I have ever paid to be a part of. Hail KANSAS, and the organizations that made this possible. Make sure you get the DVD this fall..KANSAS with the Washburn University Orchestra. I think it will be titled "There's Know Place Like Home"
Rolling Stones at Yankee Stadium. Think it was the Steel Wheels tour. Warm-up band was Living Colour who by themselves are worth standing in the rain for. Eric Clapton joined The Stones on stage at one point, people lost their minds. Saw a lot of concerts in my day, this one was a piece of rock history.
the Eagles fairwell tour one at the quest center in Omaha, then the 1st comstock rock fest with REO, 38 special, Nuggent, grandfunk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, spin drs, motley creu, and many more.
my first concert - deep purple, free, manfred mann's earth band, the support band a great aussie blues band Chain, A local Perth Aust icon band The Bakery playing at any hotel Led Zeppelin - 1972 The great & majestic Eric Clapton - last year The Who - this year in fact virtually any concert except Elton John - I fell asleep for the 1st half but in 2nd half with Ray Kennedy on percussion, absolutely brilliant.
Either the California (Ontario Speedway) Jam in 1974, or the Pink Floyd DSOTM concert in San Diego. The Ontario concert was very crowded, over 200,000 people, I've heard, and the music and weather was great (maybe a little hot). There was Deep Purple, Black Oak, Eagles, Emerson Lake Palmer (they closed the concert great!), and more groups I can't remember now... It was a great, crazy time... The Pink Floyd concert was much more subdued, but fantastic!
