hello coffee lovers is free shipping the answer to being succesful on ebay almost every time i offer free shipping on an item in my store its sell so i would say free shipping is the answer to being succesful
Sorry, I have to disagree with ya Memories. I was successful long before that free shipping crap came into being. I do offer free shipping on a few items, but that's just to pull traffic into my store. I guess I'm kind of angry because the free shipping items that I sold, I got dinged with 1's and 2's on shipping......go figure! If eBay would have a policy where 5 stars would automatically be awarded for free shipping, I would offer it in all my listings.
If you really want to be successful on eBay, then you need to advertise. There are tons of free advertising site on the net. If you want the links to these sites, send me an email and I'll send them to you. I had help when I was new and had no idea on how to promote my store, so I don't mind passing that info on.
I have been hearing from buyers that they tend to buy items that has separate shipping. That way they have a better sense if the Seller is trying to overcharge altogether. They know the value of the item they want and most also know how much it will take to ship. Many sellers try to charge too much thinking that Buyers won't know the diffference if they lump it altogether and pass it of as appropriate if they offer free shipping.
Patch, you are sooooooooo right! I think the reason I got dinged on free shipping is because the buyer thought I included it in the item price....which isn't true, but I'm sure that's what they thought.
Sheilae, yes, of course it's important to have the right stuff....that's a gimmee. But then again, ya never really know what will sell as there are millions and millions of people with different likes and preferences and many collectors looking for whatever. So that's where advertising comes in......to find those unique buyers and steer them to your site.
