I would like to take this moment to thank everyone that took part in the debate. Bullion collector's vs Coin collector's..I can't spoke for anyone else, but I learned a lot from this debate. One thing, it doesn't matter if you collect Bullion or Coin's, as long as you are having fun doing what you like to do. I have a better respect for bullion collector's now..I hope everyone enjoyed the debate,and maybe learned a little something. I sure did....Peace be with you all...:-}
Useful Funny
Rick I also enjoyed the debate. I knew the bullion side would win.
When is the next one ?
Whats the topic ?

Had fun

Here is an idea for a debate.

Modern coins VS Classic older coins – which is a better investment .

As for The Morgan VS Peace dollar – That is not really fair to the Peace Dollar because it had a limited number of years of production. What would be the theme of that debate ??
Investment potential , design of the coin ??

I like your idle musicman.But what year's do we call Modern, and what year's do we call Classic???The design is what I was thinking on Morgan vs Peace.. I

A good example would be to compare the Gold series of coins that the mint has produced since 1986 against older gold coins such as the Indian gold coins. Where do people think the greatest profit potential exists ? We would have to set some guidelines such as using common date older gold coins against current Gold issued by the mint.
Example: As a collector what would you rather own ?? A MS 62 Indian Half Eagle which is valued at $ 1000 or a one ounce gold Eagle or Buffalo which you can pick up from the mint for $ 1000 ?? Which coin has the great chance for profit over the next 10 years?? What coin do you consider more of a collectable item??

Musicman I have both coins you are talking about and I love them both. If I had to choose 1 of them I would choose the 1 ounce Buffalo. Only because I like the design better. It was designed by James Fraser, second only to St. Gaudens himself. It has two awesome sides and the original surface that Fraser wanted for his Buffalo nickel......but don't get me wrong I'd surely miss that half eagle.....guess I'd have to pull out my Indian quarter eagle and eagle to keep from crying.
By the way I have two 2006 Buffalos starting tonight at 7:30 and 8:00 PST........ Gonna buy a 19_ _ Lincoln....uh-ohhh I'm becoming a coin collector..... :)

The Gold Buffalos are very nice. I have a soft spot for the old coins and you know how much I love the Gold Indians. In the last 3 months I have purchased 7 of them !!!
I have my bids out on a few for next weeks Baltimore show :-}
1909 S VDB has always been one of my favorites but I am going to focus on Indian Eagles, Bust Halves, and the occasion Large Cent or Indian head cent if I can get a nice Red one for a good price. At some point I want to pick up some SLQ’s , Full Head , MS 65. Need to pace myself there as the decent dates are expensive.

my vote for a new debate would be Slabed versus Raw!

Not to rain on your parade but I was let down by the "debate". Too much side track stuff for me. There were not many subjects covered. Maybe my expectations were too high. But I don't know what subjects could have been covered. I have no numismatic circle. This is the only one I have. I would have liked to see many subjects covered but it didn't happen. I collect US coins(the older the better)and bullion when I can get it at a good price.
If there is gonna be another "debate" somebody please come up with multiple subjects. Make them different posts. I would love to throwdown but there was too much crap for me. Let's get it on!!
