The new interface that Ebay has just implemented for the Coins and Paper Money categories will kill this segment of the Ebay market. The sequence of search criteria represents the height of lunacy. The first subdivision of US Coins is now "individual" or "sets." This means that someone searching for a specific key date must search for that coin in both individual and sets. Anyone who has ever shopped for a coin knows that you start the search by denomination (half cent through double eagle--NOT in alphabetical order) then "type" followed by date, mint and condition. Ebay must address this illogical arrangement immediately!
what the hell is going on with ebay! i Cant believe it. This has got to be the end of ebay. Fire all programmers and executives that had anything to do with this new system. Where are OUR (sellers) rights? Lunacy rules.
I agree. It seems to me that eBay it making insanely difficult to sell or buy coins on their website. Why take away easy ways to search for coins you want? They NEED to at leat replace the search bar so you can easily change your search within a caegory. I hope that eBay reads these and realizes that it is going to lose a ton of money from fewer listings from upset individuals and from decreased final sale prices because no one will be able to find a coin they want!
This whole change for the Coins is really and absolutely the most stupidist change in the world. Get rid of those darn programmers. I'll quit ebay, close my account and also my paypal account if it doesn't go back to the old format. ASK THE USER BEFORE YOU DUMMIES MAKE CHANGES !!!!! You people are starting to act like the Microsoft folks, can't leave a good thing alone....keep your fingers out of the pie or whatever you want to call it.....
Everyone, make sure you fill out Ebay's survay asking how you like the new interface. I personally think it makes it MUCH harder to locate the coin that you want. Maybe if we get enough negative feedback going into the surveys, they will do something about it!
I TOALLY AGREE , SOME ONE THAT DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COINS. SET THIS COIN PROGRAM UP. PEOPLE THAT ARE LISTING COINS ARE LOOSING MONEY AND PEOPLE BUYING COINS ARE LOOSING OUT ON FINDING THE COINS THEY WANT
I believe that you are all in a test group & can opt out at any time . They have not changed the search as yet . Go all the way down to the bottom of your Ebay page & you should see the message that you are in a test & can opt out. Check it out - hope it helps.
Found the OPT OUT link and got rid of the lousy coin page that is being tested.... If ebay would expend their time at getting these fake and fraudulent coin sellers off ebay, then they would be accomplishing something useful instead messing with an absolutely great working system that only needs a few very minor tweaks to make it better. The programmer that did this doesn't know hwere is damn head is, up his u know what........
What a mess. Takeing out the Sub-cat has created a nightmare. What were they thinking. And no completed searches, and the dates wrong as well, (ie morgan 1859??) I see that the program does not know or like coins. I was about tl list yesterday, however seeing these issues have elected not to until fixed or old version put back.
I agree after 8 years off and on with ebay as both a buyer and a seller this latest "improvement" is nothing burt a mindless farce. Who's brain storm was this, get OFF the DOPE programmers. They aren't helping you or any other eBayers!!!
Absolutely the worst redesign in the history of eBay -- the new search interface is confusing, inaccurate, and was apparently designed by a team of monkeys generating random code on typewriters.
I better stock up on 1859 Morgan dollars -- those are pretty rare. Along with my 1920 Washington quarters.
Also, the advanced search interface is a joke -- it runs painfully slow even on pretty fast hardware/connection. I went to browse my favorite cat last night (32-64 Washington) and could only get there after 5-10 minutes of clicking, cursing and head scratching, and even then, the listings were incomplete, and jumbled -- it was pulling up seated lib's & standings, and state quarters, and totally unrelated items like sports cards.
The new version should be only available as a user-selected option and the existing previous version should be the default for all users.
Upside: as a buyer, this might be a chance to "steal" some good coins since no one will be able to find the seller's listings without a lot of trouble.
