SBA vs. Miss Anna W. Williams

The Morgans were considered to be unattractive (Miss Williams was a school teacher, not a model), bulky and too big for pocket change. It was so bad that the vast majority of the population after the Civil War rejected the Morgan, particularly in the North and Midwest. Banks couldn't give them away for below face, so the banks and the Mint kept them in 1000 coin canvas bags for decades. Locked up in vaults and rooms nobody cared about. The only MORGAN $ commerce was with the casinos. I remember being in Las Vegas in 1962, before the Morgan BOOM and they were throw aways, not even close to being collectibles. Now, they are considered by many to be the most popular coin collected in America. By the way, the Morgans only have 77% silver content not 90 or 99% like some modern coins. So silver is not the main reason to collect Morgans.

My point is this, SBA dollars are considered TODAY to be the UGLIEST coin ever minted. Universally rejected by the public, the banks and the Mint, just like the Morgans were "too big" the SBA's are "too small". When everyone says SELL SBA's that's when you should BUY. A complete set of Proof 69's would cost approx. $225. The upside is tremendous. What do you have to lose? 50 to 100 years from now Miss Anthony may be considered the darling of the coin market. Remember, in the 17th and 18th centuries, fat ugly women were the "in thing". Your collection may be worth a fortune in the future.

BUY low, HOLD 50 years, then SELL high.
Useful Funny

small correction coins... the morgans are .900 silver .10 copper but they are only .77 ounce 26 grams. unlike the ASE which are 1 ounce and .99 pure silver.
yes i have the sba dollars. there mint products and i'm on a mission to own one of everything the mint makes. a good idea just a bad design. too many people like me, pocket change pulls my pants down...only paper will do.
