Ok People .

I have a 1986 $ 50 gold proof American Eagle .
I have had it since 1986 .
I have it up for Bin or Best Offer now at $ 1900.
I am getting offers at $ 1700 which is what I expected.
I don’t need the money but with gold at these levels I am tempted to sell it as I do not collect modern coins.
I am a little attached to the coin because it is a beautiful design.

I think I can get $ 1800 for it.

What should I do:

1) Keep it because I am Jewish and most Jewish people don’t need extra money as they already have enough and control most of the worlds money already anyway
2) Sell it because being Jewish I just love easy money
3) Wait to see if I can squeeze some more money out of someone on EBAY as gold may continue to rise
4) Sell it take the money and get one of those litter American eagles if I like the damm design so much
Useful Funny
Just make a counter offer of 1850.00 and they'll come back with another offer of 1800.00....Problem solved!

sell it for 1700 and order a buffallo proof coin! I'm tempted to dump the 2009 thick gold coin i got this year uhr ?... Didn't think the mint would make so many of them, the value is worthless to me now.

I'm going with number 5, donate it to the Tmoney-Eagles foundation

Seriously though, number 2 is fine

Well musicman I'd go with reason #6: I believe gold could double by the end of our *&*@*% new president’s term....so I'd hang onto anything shinny for the next few years or so because I don't see anyway the value of the American dollar can possibly stand up to the rate of inflation.....

OR donate it to me and I'll show you my tattoos in person….j/k

My thoughts on gold :

I think it will peak at no greater then $ 1200 an ounce.
The fed will have to raise interest rates within 6 months.
Bernanke never should have lowered them as much as he did as this was the same mistake that Greenspan made 10 years ago that was one of the reasons we got into the sh-t storm last year.

Bartender I would get in trouble if you showed me your tat’s in person.

I'm afraid to say #1 for fear of sounding anti-Semitic LOL :-) If you aren't hurting for the money, why sell the coin? I fail to see its downward potential. Gold is high right now, but if and when it goes down, how much would you really stand to loose....a few hundred bucks.....It's not worth your time to worry about and stress over IMHO
If you had a few thousand ounces sitting around, I would say sell now and take some profits!

Oy vey, all the choices!!!!!
Cut the crap Music & dump it for $1700.
If you've had it since 1986, gold was at a low of $325 and a high of $438 for 1986.
I think any Jewish mother would be oh so proud of her boychik for making such a shrewd business decision.. She'll brag to all her friends while playing canasta or mahjong. LOL ;)

I made this post more for humor then anything else.
I paid $ 600 for this back in 1986 from the mint.
I don’t need the money but can’t resist selling this when gold is up and I don’t think there is much more upside on these coins . I had a couple of offers at $ 1700 and I countered at $ 1850 to see if they would come back at $ 1800. I am still waiting - LOL !! I can get $ 1750 for the coin right now as that is about the max people are paying .
Met - I use to play Canasta with my Grandmother when I was a kid , we also played Parcheesi.

Good times Music. A friend of my grandmother tried to teach me Mahjong when I was a kid and she nearly had a heart attack because I asked her the same questions like a million times and she got so frustrated

MM, you knew the right anwser all along. I think your right about not much more upside, atleast not in our lifeime. LOL If gold does make it to $1500-2000 it will be very short lived like 1980 silver.

I'd say dump it and pick up a nice bust half or two. I got an auction catalog last week and there's an 1830 large letters anacs EF45 half coming up for sale in a couple weeks. It books for $4000+ but I don't see it going for nearly that much at this auction. It's in central PA if you would like more info let me know. Oh crap!!!! It's your birthday. Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY musicman. I just realized that looking at your screen name. Hope it's a good one. If you would like more info about the 1830 half, let me know. Happy birthday buddy!!
