I grew up yankees fan in new york. i have a man crush on Jeter. my well worn yankess hat is the only headgear i know. we moved from denver to calif this summer. my oldest son kept pace with the rocks all season, kept saying they're right there, they're right there, to which i roughly replied...at least we'll have the yanks to watch in oct.
well, you all know how that's turned out. wow. world series starts weds in boston. i am on the bandwagon late and thrilled to be along for the ride. i want a tulowitzki jersey, that guy anchors the best fielding team in mlb history, and mistake free defense will stifle the sox.
i have plane tickets for me and three boys courtesy of frontier's freq flier program. couldn't believe 4 were available, booked them yesterday. game tickets, well, that's been harder.
told the boys, worst case scenario they can see their friends and we'll watch the game with them. hoping the rockies work out the ticketing issue and i can get through. failing that, eager to see how the secondary market for rockies tickets reacts to the actual supply and demand. maybe back of the rockpile for 800/seat is a good deal and i should have taken it tonight
now thinking its best to lock in before weds though as the real uncertainty is game 1, but after they win it, the speculation on game 4 as the rockies clincher will drive prices to the stratosphere.
interesting two days in rockies history and nothing happened on the field. i got tickets on stubhub and i think i got a good deal, i'm happy to be taking my sons to the game. we'll never forget it.
though my friends back in denver, my wife, others (http://www.diamondintherox.com/2007/10/while-we-wait-for-rockies-to-play-in_23.html) are ticked about how tickets were sold. it was frustrating for probably every individual trying to buy (even those that got through from what I hear). i tried, it was lousy. they should have sold them at the stadium. the executives responsible managed to disturb a baseball dream where anything is possible and wallets are wide open and replace it with uncertainly, fear and anger all before a single pitch has been thrown in the series. wow. ...lots of auctions on stubhub yet to have a bidder...
still, i'm excited for the series…if i could see past steinbrenner for all those years i can endure this. from the ground up the rockies built a really solid organization, with great young talent, that works hard to play the game the right way. now, if they could just fix the executive-level decision-making (and i'm not talking about dan o’).
well, it was lost in 4 but I had a great time. Game 4 was a great game, actually 2, 3, and 4 were great games but the good guys were just overmatched. The Rox have a great young core that I hope they continue to build around.
