Useful Funny
Cheapest way: Media Mail through the Post Office

Better handling: Priority Mail (flat rate boxes are $9.45 any weight)

it depends onhow many you are talking about. I use priority mail flat rate a lot. by the time you add the free confirmation number it is not too much more for 100 books or less.

my postmaster claims media mail is against USPS rules because the books have ads, he claims they will not deliver if they know what is inside. (but post office in next town says its not a problem)

Media Mail covers comics and other media. If your postal worker gives you trouble, just call it a book. Technically it is. Movies, discs, etc are also okay. The limit on flat rate is 70 lbs. and this is strictly enforced. You can attach a confirmation tag to any media mail item, but you must check it in at the post office. That's the only way to make sure it gets scanned into the system. If you print the postage on line and drop it in the box, it may go through without getting scanned for confirmation even though you paid for the service.
Hope this helps. :)

I found that mailing comics is best using the flatrate priority envelopes for 4-15 comics and flat rate priority boxes for 16-70 comics. Anything under 4 comics i used a padded envelope w/ extra piece of cardboard and it costs under $3.

I too have been told that comics do not qualify for media mail due to the ads. To which I replied, "independant comics and trade paper backs do not have ads." They didn't know what to say...

Media mail is cheap and effective, but it's only intended for unpublished books and mags. If the post office finds comics in the package they will send it back with no refund. Be cautious and carefull if you use this method and maybe you'll get lucky and they'll get thru.
