I'm interested in finding a solid book that deals with comic book history. I'd like to read and study the beginnings of this truly American art form. If anyone knows of a comprehensive book/website/magazine article(s), I'd like to hear your suggestions. Thanks for all your help. My searches so far have come up with a wide variety of options and I'm trying to narrow it down.
Look for Jim Steranko's 'History of the Comic Book.' It is a great two book set done in the early 70's and is basically the Grand Daddy of all the history of comic book books. It should not be that hard to find on E-Bay. It has some wonderful Golden Age stories in it in full color. Be careful to get the first printing. I heard it was reprinted some years later, and for some reason left out all the comics. So you would get paragraphs of writing explaining the origin of 'The Batman' and give you a description of his pointy-eared costume.........but no pictures to go along with it. Kind of like going to see the new Iron Man movie and having to watch it in black & white. I hope this post is helpful to you. :-)
