Just making conversation to see some other opinions of my fellow ebayers. This is a classic discussion we always have here at Suite Comics so feel free to join in and let us know what you like better and why?
Depends really... all of them have good stuff and crap that hit's the shelves... But I'm sure if you combine all the Indy stuff together you'd have to say Indy. Still as of right now both Marvel and DC has screwed up their continuity so bad that the two giants are almost neck and neck... between them though I;d say DC has the advantage as quality goes.
Yeah, myself personally i love DC. Especially with the blackest night issues coming up. I'm very excited. I'm also a big fan of Veritigo titles: Fables and House of Mystery. Plus Michael Turner's artwork pulled me into his Aspen line as well. Although a few of us here love and only read Marvel (mostly X-Men).
I was really lucky, for about 21 years I could read as many comics as I could find time to read. owning comic shops gives you a HUGE advantage. some of the books that didn't sell at the time turned out to be super later on (I had 10 copies of Bone #1 at one time) I got to read a lot of indies I would never had bought for myself.
I was taught how to read with comics. My first comic was Kilraven from Marvel. I gravitated to more to DC because of Wonder Woman mainly. I fell in love with the DC Universe early on and it's a love that stuck.
I agree with solo_vader_66, Marvel was great in the 80s, but DC has always kept my interest. I used to run around the playground playing Super FRiends when I was in Elementary school.
DC started the whole superhero thing and has been doing a great job ever since. However, Marvel (or should I say Stan Lee in particular) has given DC a run for their money since the 60's. It's really hard to say whose better. It really depends on your taste, The Joker is the best!
Personally I have always preferred to read DC over anything else, however it feels that the indies sell better. Possibly because they have a higher cover cost, but not sure. New stuff, at a less than cover charge, always sells well regardless of company, that's for sure :)
For nostalgia's sake I'd go with Bronze Age/Copper Age Marvel and DC, but since its advent into the comic world VERTIGO IS HANDS DOWN the best, most exciting, most consistent label in comic books!
