Well I think the best thing is go back to the roots of why you need security in the first place mostly because some services in windows actually exploit and send messages across the internet that make you vulnerable and keep connections open that youll never use but a hacker might take it from a programmer its not the software you use but how you use it windows xp/me/2000/vista all have services that are running in background that make you vulnerable to attack by default so if you fix the root you cut off the source
