I'm a professional makeup artist and I tend to collect alot of makeup products, especially MAC. But recently, I've noticed that people are selling MAC eyeshadows on ebay for unbelievable prices. I have come to realize that some of the low-priced MAC eyeshadows are fake!!! I purchased a MAC eyeshadow from a ebay seller and found out it is 100% fake. I had that gut feeling when I received it by mail and opened it. I've been dealing with MAC products for years and the quality wasn't consistent with authentic MAC. I confirmed this with a MAC associate manager at a fine department store.

She told me that some ways you can find out if a product is real MAC vs. fake mac is:

1. If the packaging is different from the normal one you buy in fine department stores, it's probably fake. She advised that many beauty products that are from China are fake. They will have the name and similar box, but it's NOT the same. MAC products have a code on every product/box as well as on the label. This consists of a couple letters and the last is a number, which is the year it was made. MAC's address is always written on the box.

2. If the products don't have names then they're probably not real. Sellers of FAKE MAC eyeshadow will say the product only has a number and NOT a color. Only MAC brushes are numbered.

3. Authentic MAC eyeshadow has an additional bottom compartment underneath the case with a small mirror and eyeshadow applicator.

4. If the FAKE MAC products have names & look real, but you don't see them on the MAC website then they may be fake. Even the MAC website has a list of some of their discontinued products.
