I recently purchased an '05 Thunder Mountain w/103" from a friend in immaculate condition and only 1370 miles on it. He had recently changed the breakin oil and replaced it with Harley Syn3. On the advice of a friend, at 4 K miles, I weened it over to AMSOIL. I put 20w-50 in the crankcase, 10w-40 in the primary and 75w-90 in the transmission. There has been a definite reduction in temperature all the way around, much smoother shifting and I think better clutch action. I'm just curious if anyone else has tried this brand and maybe the combination of the 3 different weights? If not what do you run and are you happy with it. Thanks and have a Great Day.

I run a bike shop in AZ, and I've been using Amsoil in a few different bikes and been pretty happy with it so far. I haven't used that heavy weight in the transmission, the newer ones just don't need it. But I doubt it will hurt it at all. Now with the primary, I'm curious how the 10w40 works for you! We've been searching for an alternative to the HD Formula + to use in the primary. Let me know what you think of it, and how your clutch reacts to it.
