Currently riding a Trek Fuel EX8 and 2100, as well as a fixie Redline Conquest, but my favorite bike maker has got to be Vanilla Bikes... absolutely BEAUTIFUL bicycles... http://www.vanillabicycles.com/ see for yourself. I want one of their Speedvagens.
If you truly appreciate cycling and cycling culture, you ride Italian frames. The beauty and history of a Colnago, Gios or De Rosa cannot be matched by anythiing 'designed in the USA' (which is marketing speak for made in Taiwan). I own two Colnagos, a Bottechia and a Basso and simply love them. That's the thing about Italian art, you can love it. You can't feel much emotion about a Trek or Specialized, as they have no soul.
Altough as previously listed I own a LOOK 555 Ultegra, I would like some day to own a Cervelo R3-SL. But we all know there are so many great bikes out there that it really comes down to personal preference. Like Lance said himself, it's never the bike! Happy & safe cycling to all.
What a blanket and asinine statement there wool-shorts. Good job at insulting thousands and thousands of cyclist everywhere, who, in thier own way, have thier own connection with thier rides. I guess for you though, it is all about the bike.
I have 2 Treks and my husband rides a Giant. they are both entry level bikes but he loves his and i love my mine. I also have a womens designed trek because i thought it would help with the low back stretch, but i feel to cramped up front. so i guess that means i prefer the pain of the stretch that happens after long rides..
As I read these entries I have to laugh about so many people loving Trek. When I was racing in the 1980's everyone would always joke around about what pieces of crap they were. You would never see someone at the starting line on a Trek although they were available. It's only because of Armstrong that these bikes got any attention. Like someone said earlier, a bike like Trek has no soul. Having grown up around bikes like Colnago, Masi, Cinelli, Merckx, and Tommassini, (by bro actually had a Confenti), I can say that going to a Trek would be like thinking that some Lucern ice cream is going to taste as good as Ben and Jerry's.
I just bought a 2009 Giant Defy and love it so far. Did not go all out and get the full carbon but still the new butted fram and carbon forks w/ carbon seat posts are really nice. The paint is beautiful and boy does she ride nice.
I'm new to cycling. I started riding along the lake with my 3 y/o son 1-2 miles. Then started riding quite a bit by myself 10-15 miles all on a 13 year old 'Huffy'--shame I know. Yesterday, I bought Giant FCR3-w. I realize it's an entry level bike, but it is leaps and bounds better than the other.
My bicycle is Felt Z100 very good bike i do need to upgrade the componets a little but i'll get there buying 1 durace every 2 to 3 months first comes the crance arms and chainset!!!
