Now I have a Specialized Roubaix road bike, a Cannondale Jekyl suspension bike, and a Cannondale M1000 "town bike.' My favorite bike of all time (it was stolen out of my locked house) was my vintage Mondia Special. Occasionally I lust for other bikes (an Ellsworth) but I'm doing fine with the three I have. Happy cycling, all.

I rode Trek bikes back in the 80's, and even raced them. I tried specialized, paramount, cannondale, panasonic. Since then, I have built 2 Vitus 979, one red, one blue, with almost complete mavic ssc gruppos. I absolutely love them and wouldn't change a bolt on them. I disagree with wool shorts, everyone has a connection to their bike, and I'd say the French have an equal if not greater stake in cycling's history and culture. The "official" language of cycling is not Italian, remember. And remember the British actually ivented bicycle racing, and in the U.S. it was a bigger sport than baseball or football until WWII. As for art, I'll take a Jackson Pollack, Andy Warhol, or Le Corbusier over Michelangelo, Raphael, or Bottecelli any day..
I built a 2003 Giant OCR Touring bike over the summer of 2007. I bought most of my parts from E bay. I started with the frame and bought parts I liked. It is a mostly shimano drive train. It is a nice ride.
I bought my first road bike here on eBay... it is a Motobecane. I have been using it indoors with my trainer that I also bought here on eBay! It is great fun and I can't wait until Spring when I can take it out on the road!
