Well Hello there hula-girl-at-heart. No one has answered this question yet so I will be happy to comment. I've been what you call an avid (or very serious cyclist) since 16. I have a handful of bikes. Mostly I ride my road bike. I usually ride 4 to 5 days a week because of my work schedule. I often ride with a group but will ride alone without hesitation. A typical ride for me is between 30 and 50 miles depending on the territory, traffic, etc.
At an average speed of 20mph it usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours and change.

Hi jenerichcill :) ...wow..that sounds like a wonderful routine...30 -50 miles per ride sounds fun! I can only get in btw 15-20...if I can everyday...but like you...it usually works out to be 4-5 per week....my ride is a mountain bike...tho I do believe for distance I should have a road bike...no? anyway...I usually ride up and down the causeways for the endurance part of my routine which is a challenge...on my off days I just ride a straight 20 miles no hills. I look forward to joining a riding group...but when I do I hope to have a road bike or even a hybrid for that :) but...as you can guess...I am but a novice here...but do so enjoy cycling :) thx for the response ... and enjoy the ride ! :)
