I have decided to join the class at my gym called RPM.It is a bike cycling class. My first class is schedule for March 19,2008(Wednesday). Any advice . Things I should do before. Can you tell me things not to do before and thing to do or not to do after
If you haven't already done so, use a heart rate monitor in your spin class. The majority of your workout should be spent at ~70 - 80% of your max heart rate. Try not to spend more than 10% of the time above 80%. So for a 60 minute class that would be less than 6 minutes above 80%
Start out slow. Don't feel intimidated to keep up with the group. If you try to hard at the first you'll burn out! But as you continue, don't be the person next to you cheating themselves by not using resistance properly. Good luck!!
Woo Hoo! Les Mills RPM. I am currently training to be an instructor:
1. if you ride with SPDs bring your shoes 2. be patient, heroes can be made here but pace yourself 3. always have some resistance set, you want there to always be an effort needed to turn the pedals.
*Jala, I know you mean well but. heart rate monitor is really NOT necessary. Listen to your instructor, they will keep you at the level you need to be. of course there are always the few to turn the resistance WAY down, but then what is the point?
