Coach Made In China. Are they Real?

Hi, I've just joined this discussion group because I know nothing about how to tell what is real and what is fake.... I've recently bought a couple great VINTAGE Coach bags on eBay. I love them. The leather is thick and beautifully made in America.
I'm a little concerned now though 'cause I bought a pretty red Coach and when I got it the CREED said "MADE IN CHINA". The leather isn't anywhere near as luscious as the other VINTAGE bags I bought. Can you tell me if these China Bags are really Coach bags? If they are I'm disappointed in the quality.

Thanks,
caitilin

there are a ton of real bags made in china these days, but unfortunately so are fakes. Ive seen a ton of fakes that say made in usa and italy and china.

But a lot of auth ones are made in china now too.

Post some if you are wondering, and we can try our best to help

Almost all Coach bags are made in China these days, although some are made in other parts of the country. It's become so much cheaper to have them manufactured in China, it really boosts Coach's profit margins. That's why Coach continues to do well in this economy, which also keeps the shareholders happy.

I'm sure the Coach shareholders are happy. Too bad the quality was sacrificed through shipping the labor to China. I know I'll put my money into Vintage bags that were made in America. Politics aside, the quality is what I'm buying. No more Coach for me unless it's Vintage.

I don't know if the bag is real......

What is the serail number of the bag? And, did you compare it to others (google the number?)....

If I was interested of that handbag, I would have asked her to show a close up pic of the creed, and if she can guarantee authenticity with a money back guarantee....(shipping included!)....My thoughts are this.....if you can guarantee it is authentic, you should have no problem agreeing with this....I see good sellers guarantee "double money back"....

That said, what makes me nervous in her listing, is that she is selling these for her mother......that ALWAYS is a red flag, because if it is discovered it is fake, then the seller has an "out" (I didn't know, it was mom's!)......she did not guarantee authenticity, and she has been around ebay enough to know this......

Her feedback is good.....I am finding out that does not always mean they are honest sellers.......(We have discovered fakes with power sellers with 100% feedback, and close to a thousand items sold)..

For your peace of mind, I would take it in to a Coach store.....do not tell them you bought it off ebay (They will not help you then)....tell them you got it for a gift or something, and wanted to see if it was REALLY real.....

What IS the serial number, BTW?

WOW! Thanks Kathryn. You have given me some great infomation. I will definately follow up on it. I was considering re-selling the purse on eBay because it simply isn't the quality I'm used to. But, if there is a chance of it being a fake that would certainly not be an option! I'm going to check this out though and I'll give you all the outcome when I find out if it's the real deal or not.

Again thanks,
caitilin

Judging by the pictures, the bag is most likely authentic. The stitching is much straighter than I see on many counterfeits that pop up here. Search other listings for the same bag based on the style number on the creed. You can compare those to your bag. Coach bags of the past were of far better quality. The leather was thick and soft and just yummy. The so-called lightweight leather that they use on many bags today, is definitely not quality. I understand the importance of the almighty dollar, but Coach did a serious disservice to loyal customers when the sold out their brand. I would guess that at least 95% of their bags are now manufactured in China. There was a time when 95% were made here. Those are the bags you are finding that you love. If you like large bags, I would highly recommend a vintage 9085. It is a huge bucket bag. I once owned that style in 3 colors, but I have decided that Coach is no longer the brand for me. Anytime you are considering a purchase, compare listings of the same style bag. Beware of any creed that starts out with the letters NT as the style code. They are ALL fakes. Ask for a photo of the creed. If the Seller cannot send the picture because their camera is broken, forget bidding on that auction. Check to make sure that the stitching is straight and evenly spaced.
