OK - I have become very addicted to all things Coach since my friend gave me a coach holiday patchwork tote for Christmas. (This was a gift that is the real thing as this friend buys nothing but the best without looking at the price tag.) Anyway, is there any way to tell if Coach shoes are real? Would anyone even bother to make fake coach shoes? I know it has been mentioned several times that bags with Coach Italy tags are fake so I assume if the shoes say that they are also fake?
My opinion, which I only expressed about three weeks ago, was that handbags were the only fashion being duplicated and sold as a "knock off". I feel the remainder of the fashion world is fairly safe for a variety of reasons! Handbags were the first target of the counterfeiters;they found a lucrative market that was somewhat easily produced, no fabrics or sizing, and "presto changeo" the money came rolling in for designer labels!
Until I know otherwise, I think shoes are "safe". Other opinions, please!
You can buy all kinds of fake shoes...............look on iOffer or just google fake coach shoes..........you will get a ton of sites. Nothing is off limits when it comes to fake merchandise.
Kim and everyone, here is a link to an awesome eBay guide on counterfeits: http://reviews.ebay.com/BEWARE-quot-100-AUTHENTIC-quot-HANDBAGS-can-be-100-FAKE_W0QQugidZ10000000004274911
It is mostly about handbags. Near the end, the writer,christid2303, mentions tradekey.com, probably the largest counterfeit site on the internet. DHGate.com is another.
Or,Google brand names for anything - you will find counterfeit bags, accessories, T-shirts (Abercrombie, Hilfiger, Polo), clothing of any kind. I would assume also, electronics and accessories are counterfeited. Jewelry, especially Tiffany, every brand of watches. They are usually under places that say "Brand Whatever...80% Discounted!"
It's a bit scary. But it will make you a wiser shopper knowing that everything that can be counterfeited has been, and if you see things being sold new at too low a price you might want to consider authenticity. There are many good and authentic items to be bought and sold on eBay. But it is useful to know what else is out there.
AMEN!! I think anything that is popular and worth any amount of money is counterfeited. I was shocked to find even replica Nike shoes were made. This winter I was looking for Northface jackets and realized some were fake. Flea markets everywhere sell fake designer clothes, shoes, and purses. My hair salon used to have a girl who would pull up with fakes in her trunk. My DENTIST buys fake Prada and LV's! They think they look real. It's hilarious! Believe me, if Coach offered rewards I would have been taking names. *giggling*
I had told in a different post of a girl that sold fakes on eBay when I first started. She would always put in the listing that if you didn't contact her first that your bid would be canceled. That got my curiosity up so I emailed her asking why. She was honest enough to reply that they were replicas and that she didn't want anyone to think they were getting a real designer bag. (eBay wasn't as bad about replicas then..it was when I first started on eBay) Well... My sister bought a purse from her so we found out quickly about the lack of quality on the fakes! And my sister learned how you're stuck with a fake if it's still together after you're tired of it whereas with authentic, it's almost an investment. (That's what I tell my husband!) Anyway...the girl got kicked off eBay, but not before changing her user id several times and for YEARS I got an email every WEEK with the new items she had. (That was how I found out about the fake Nike's) She would email HUNDREDS of people!
It was enlightening to see all the brands/styles that were counterfeited and how quickly they would pick up on a new style! Some were very good! Some were totally off the wall. She even sold different "quality levels".
The emails stopped right before Christmas of this year. I wonder if she got caught? I miss those emails, I could study them and know more of what to look for. :) So now, like Designer says...you can go to ioffer and see all the fakes you want. And the same with all the websites selling "mirror images". I'ts amazing...
Whew...didn't mean to blabber on so much. This just gets me going...
A person could almost become sick! Delaware is small enough that they are able to "bust" the larger operations, and completely closed down one operation in a farmer's market, enclosed operating all year.
Yes you have to watch the shoes too, especially the flip flops and sandals. I reproted a whole bunch this summer. One chick told me she bought in bulk when I asked her if she had gift receipts. Bulk? whatever, the sandals looked really bad and she had photoed them in her car right next to a real coach bag like you couldn't see the difference in the cc's-stupid broad!!
