Hi Folks, I need some expert help, as I am totally confused about a Coach bag I bought that I would S-W-E-A-R is authentic, but am getting some bad, red flags on. I purchased this sweet, little Coach drawstring with a (solid brass) buckle at the “throat” and another on the strap. (See Auction No: 380166247522) The style number, supposedly, is 9973. However, I cannot find another like it anywhere, although there is ONE, other identical ~BAG~, but it has a different style number! (See Auction No: 370278538884) THAT one has a style number of 4156. I wrote the seller of this bag and asked, ‘gee, how could two, identical Coach bags have different style numbers,’ to which she responded with silence. A week or two ago, when I was researching Ebay, there were two more bags with my original number of 9973, but they are small, square bags, NOTHING like the one I purchased. (Those two auction numbers were: 320439154285 and 350268463852.) I called the good folks at Coach Customer Service, and of course, they don’t have a picture for bags that old, but said the one with my original style number of 9973, was called “The Kit Bag” and sold for $124.00 back in 1992. If any one has any insight, I would be so grateful! And one more question too, if I’m not being a PIGGIE… WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT GREAT TOOL THAT WAS COMBRISED OF THE BIG LONG WEBSITE AT COACH WHERE YOU COULD TYPE IN THE STYLE NUMBER at the end of the string, and it would spit back a picture of the bag? (If you DIDN’T get a picture, that didn’t mean it was fake, but if you DID get the picture, it could confirm the bag was REAL.) I hope this isn’t too much to ask. I just do want to get my money back if this isn’t a real bag, and I’m fairly certain it isn’t. Luckily I didn’t pay a lot but it’s the PRINCIPLE of the thing. I just do hate FAKES polluting our beautiful, COACH waters! LOL! The woman I bought it from said she bought it herself at Coach and even gave me her phone number if I had any questions and wanted to discuss. Thanks so much, folks!! Have a great, great evening! Regards, ~CeCe
I think you did just fine, and I wish I could offer some help. I looked at the pics and that's a really tough call. Keep checking here and someone will give you some help. There's also a designer purse forum you might want to check out here on ebay. Wish you the very best luck with these bags.
I have to amend what I wrote earlier. None of the old crowd comes here any longer. This has become an advertising venue only. So sorry to see that, but it's true. We are all meeting in other places now, so the ads which were previously not allowed have taken over. R.I.P. designer purse neighborhood, it was a good time while it lasted.
On the other hand good luck to all of the sellers. I hope this helps you to have a prosperous holiday season. Anyone who needs help with determining whether a purse is a knock-off will have to read the guides or go to the forum for help.
