Wetland, you are a good student, and well on your way to graduation.

There are some very good guides on eBay that address the differences between authentic and fakes for several different designer handbags. I will try to find a few Guides by their sellers. Someone else may have more!

Advanced Search link at top/ Find a member link/ About Me link/ Guides link at bottom of page:
1. catonahotpc...Coach guide (very very long page, Guide at bottom, few photos)
2. daria48...Coach guide (creed numbers discussion, no photos)
3. fashionphile....Louis Vuitton guides (13 with good discussion & photos)

It's hard for me with the scribbles but that one is authentic..

Here's a good guide. Copy fast because I'm sure someone will report for having a link.

I know scribbles are difficult, I don't even try, but this one looked "way off" to me. I will stay away from Scribbles, once again...!

I like Fionaflyby's guide.

Thanks, Anita...is there a way to find the guides on eBay from Cimmunity or Help?
There is the Guides section on entering Designer Purses...lower right of page below Reviews.

Jennifer, why does Fionaflyby say to avoid sellers with white gloves...strange?

I think her guide could be updated a little. I sometimes see links to guides on listings..and seems like I've seen the links when searching...but it's not always there.

The white gloves...funny.

I was wondering about the white gloves too!

I could not understand avoiding any seller using white gloves considering how much better it is than seeing some of the hands I have seen in listings!

Still can't believe that scribble is authentic, but I always counted on Duck to know them!

Here's another scibble like it..seller has it listed under the wrong style number (probably from a previous listing) but you'll see the style number on the creed is the same and also the color.

The white gloves thing sl and jennifer is because there used to be foreign sites that made counterfeits. They always showed the bags with someone holding them up with these white factory-style gloves on.

I'll try to find one later. gtg at 3 or so.

Anita, you are the Queen of Finds for the day (the scribble) unless Max finds some sellers wearing white gloves! Borsellino can sure find them, but I have her as the new Queen of Pet Carriers.

Yesterday, I first checked Coach for pet carriers (can an addiction be transmitted?) and they were all authentic.

You are funny, Susan. :-) Have you checked the completed listings on those dog carriers?.. Looks like they are selling like hot cakes.... we missed one though ;-((
I've never seen one at retail store.

Even with the best of Ebay guides (and unfortunately a lot of them are rubbish) there are always going to be exceptions to almost every "rule", and one of those many exceptions to the "C's must be aligned correctly" rule are Scribble Hobos ( along with all Scarf Prints, Optics, and several dozen other oddball styles). All the ones listed in this post (even mine, blush blush) are pretty accurate though.

Bu as another poster is fond of saying, "the most consistent thing about Coach is its inconsistency". That's why items should never be reported as fake based only on so-called rules, since rules also change over the years and what may have been correct five years ago is totally different today, and bags made 15 years ago aren't going to follow today's "rules" at all.

Recognising a fake takes a lot more than reading even the best of Ebay guides, it takes a ton of experience, other peoples' as well as your own, a good memory and enough computer storage to build up your own library of genuine and fake photos, numbers and descriptions. It also requires slogging through the cesspools of dozens of online fakes-selling sites to learn just what the good and bad fakes actually look like and what red flags to look for. There aren't any shortcuts to learning to tell real from fake.

You know sl...I have not seen any "white gloved" listings for a while. But now that you've set the challenge I'm on a mission..lol!

Daria, how many hours would you say you have logged studying Coach? How long would you say it would take someone to know it backwards and forwards?

Do you recommend visiting Coach stores & outlets and if so, about how often? Thanks for your insights!
