Ban the BET network

For those who may not know, BET, or Black Entertainment Television, has given Michael Vick his own show. I'm not sure if it's a "reality" show or a "life of" show, but this guy is gonna make even more money off of being a criminal. Some will say that he's an amazing athlete and that's why he's famous, but before the dog fighting, the only people who knew his name were sports enthusiasts. Now that he's broken the law and been all over the news for animal cruelty, everyone knows who he is and he's using that to make a profit. The money he was fined and the time he served was a pittance compared to what he has and what he will continue to make off of this. I think anyone who loves animals and think this is wrong should ban BET and email them telling them why. Celebrities need to be put in their place and we need to let them know they are not above the law.

Hi 630syko
This doesn't sound real good to me. It's very late here. I'll check out BET tomorrow. Thanks for letting us know. Jenny

I become enraged whenever I hear of any news concerning Michael Vick and his ridiculous attempt at fooling the public into thinking he is in any way contrite for has past actions. First it was Nike and now BET. What Nike did was bad enough but BET is WORSE! Don't think for a minute that they don't realise what their doing. Sadly, there are probably many BET viewers that think Vick did nothing wrong and support him 100%. Many more still, may feel dog fighting is no big deal or that he paid for his crimes and they too will watch as he profits for his despicable actions!

I hope when he is burning that he feels all the pain and fear he inflicted on the dogs.

Isn't repentance something we all want to see, or do we now condemn even after one has repented, done time, and asked for forgiveness? Don't we want convicts to learn something while in prison and then set an example for others?

No I don't like what he did but does that mean he must live exile for the rest of his days? Who are you to say what he feels, or if he is lying or not?

Maybe, just maybe this man really has learned something and shouldn't he be given a chance just like everyone who makes a mistake? yes a big one, but even murderers are forgiven more easily than someone like Vick.

And maybe by doing this documentary he can get through to other people, to our youth just how wrong what he did was, and maybe actually keep some people/kids from doing this.

mommadogg1, you are right in many ways, however everyone is entitled to their opinion. And as you can see by the previous post on this subject, no one believes that Michael Vick is truly sorry for what he did to those poor helpless dogs, he is only sorry for getting caught and what it has cost him in $$$. It takes a truly sick and sadistic person to do what he did and a few years in prison does not change the person we believe he is. Saying he is sorry, are just words for him with no real meaning. Anyone that would do what he did to those dogs has no regard for any living creature. He will say and do what ever it takes to get the $$$ back in his pocket and if that means lying he will do that too. If you remember at the beginning of all this he lied, saying he had no part in it. Now he wants all of us to believe he is truly sorry, but believe me no one in this DNH will fall for yet another lie. And about doing the documentary to help kids know that what he did was wrong, well anyone with a brain would know that what he did was wrong, and that if you do this, you will get caught and you will go to jail. That in its self sends a strong message to all kids. Edie

Well, I could never forgive an animal abuser myself. My opinion. As far as MVick. No comment (good). Time will tell and if he has really seen the light with his wrong doings then hopefully he will really sway some futer abusers. He is popular with a lot of people for some reason. Thanks, Good post!

Of course he knew what he did was wrong or he wouldn't have lied and denied being involved in the beginning. Is he really sorry - mmmm - lets see him donate to the cause of animal abuse just for starters - time will tell.

bet.com is the website-all the way at the bottom it says 'contact us'
and I agree with people being given a second chance, but to be allowed to profit from wrongdoing...
imagine how you would feel if a family member was a victim of a serial killer who was also a celebrity. then that killer was tried and found guilty, but instead of being put away for life, they got out in a couple of years due to their status, and then started to profit off of the story of killing your family member- is that right?
my point is that celebs and politicians are not held accountable. and we as a society need to stand up to those who reward this bad behavior.
