Do any of you have Leongergers? We have a 3 year old female who we adore. She has passed her Pet Therapy certification, loves to to carting and agility and is just a wonderful companion. We are deciding whether to breed her once or have her spayed, however there are not many Leonbergers in the area (we live near Virginia Beach, Va)
We would love to hook up with other Leonberger owners.

Hi
I actually had to do a web search to find out what sort of dog a leoberger was.
What a huge dog. Please don't breed her. Too many dogs die every week in shelters already. Jenny

OMG - that's a hard one. So many dogs are waiting for 4 ever homes and never get one - most die. To many dogs - not enough homes. That's the first thing that pops into my heart. I have two rescue dogs and they are wonderful. My beloved loppy Dog was a rescue dog also. She was a pure bred Rottie - just beautiful. She was also very smart - and I mean smart. She was my best friend - I loved her so. She had a litter. All her pups were smart and beautiful. I had her spay after that litter and my biggest regret was I didn't keep one. So many people asked and begged me to let her have more and I said no. One of her pups became a border patrol dog and sniffed out drugs. They all went to beautiful homes. Loppy Dog without question was an excellant example of what the breed should be along with all her pups. There is so much bad breeding these days. My Ra Ra was a good example of that. You will have to follow your heart. It sounds like your dog if bred correctly will be an excellant example of the breed. Then again - for every dog that is born - another dog will die without ever knowing what a loving home is.

Hi,
I met a couple at my vet's once that had a young Lweonburger they wanted to breed. They said it was a very rare breed and they wanted to continue the line. The dog however had other ideas about being a mama and bit the stud. They had to do it artificially.
You could probably find some brreeders through the local vetarinarions. they usually are helpful.
