pitbulls have gotten an undeserved reputation. the last few years.mostly due to the biased media.like any dog, show them love and they grow up happy and even tempered. show them cruelty or dis interest and they grow up dis trustful or worse. btw only dog to ever attack me was a german shepard.

Any dog that is mistreated/abused etc will become aggressive or I have seen dogs become overly submissive and frighten of their own shadow. In reality the same goes for all animals - including the human kind. For whatever reason - perhaps good/bad breeding some overcome adverse conditions while others don't. I had a Rottie and a Dobie and I noted some people would just flip out because of the breed. The fact was they were the sweetiest most loving dogs. People need to stop abusing all animals. This doesn't look like it will happen in my lifetime so the next best solution that I can see is to educate people about the facts including raising awareness about abuse and support in ending it.

AMEN- nothing irritates me more than when I am at the pet store and someone is petting my dog, crouched down getting kisses, they ask the breed and I say pitbull- they panic and can't back up fast enough- then I ask what's different from a few seconds ago? I get a blank look and tell them- fear of a word is the only thing that gives it power- then I walk away, laughing at their ignorance...

Some years ago new people moved into the house behind us. One day I was in the yard and the women was standing on her brick BBQ hanging over our fence to say hello to me. I went over to her to say hi and mentioned off handedly to be careful hanging over into my yard because of the dog (as any dog is likely to protect it's own yard from strangers).
She took one look at Ruby, jumped down and walked away without a backwards glance to me or a goodbye. Not a word-left me standing there wondering what had happened and has never spoken to me since.
It made me feel so dreadful.
That was about 4 years ago. Her and her hubby just totally ignore me now.

Hi Jenny, Sounds like that neighbor is no biggie to me. You sound better off without them.

my daughter has a beautiful girl named Molly, she is strong but is such a gentle girl! They are very smart & loyal, she also has a 4 month old baby and Molly is just the very best dog, very protective of the new baby in the house
