Zode was my collie's name. The first two letters of My sister's middle name and my middle name combined. My father named him.
Tootsie - This was my aunts dog's name. I always thought it was cute.
Yaba Daba - A name me and my cousins named a neighbors dog. We never new his real name, just called him that because he was a little dog and when he barked it sounded like Yaba Daba.
WEE Joker - This was another aunt's dog. The father's name was Joker and they called the puppy WEE Joker. He was also called the Tarrington Smoker Dog, because he had a black circle around one eye.
Sissy Pants - She was a Manchester my father had when I was very young.
My brother's police dog, a German Shepherd, was named Rommell after the famous German Field Marshal, Erwin Rommel, also known as the "Desert Fox" during WWII.
My son insisted that we name our Golden Retriever Kenny, after Kenny Schrader, the NASCAR driver. I finally relented. But as I sat down to fill out his registration papers, I thought...I can't just submit the name Kenny. And I began to ponder what would go well with it. I looked at him and thought to myself, what do you immediately think of when you see that sweet little guy? Instantly, the word chaos came to mind! Thus he is named Kenny of Kaos,,,,,
I think a dog's name should end it an 'y' or 'eee'' sound. We had Teddy, Barky, Tilly, Queenie and now Petey and Murphy. I think dog's respond well to the phonetics/inotation of the ''eee'' sound at then of their name. I rescued my Chihuahua whose orignal name was (stupidly) "Rebel" but I immediately changed it to Petey after the Aiden's dog in 'Sex and the City." Names that come to mind. . . Taffy Charly Dooly Dixie Downy Sassy Beenie Burty Meaty Moogie Miffy Abby Boobie Barry Arny Alphie Ernie Bonnie Carrie Cody Corky Ellie Eerie Fabby Ferdy Gody Yugie Goobie Gerdie Cookie Tummy Humphrey Hardy Hersehy Hoody Jemmy Judy Jury Jewelry Genie Jay Jay Kooley Kooky Cony Kennedy Larry Lori Loopey Molly Lucy Daisy
AND MANY MANY MORE!! It's best we wait till your dog's charater emerges within a week or so of adopitng it.
I once knew a Basset hound named "Kippy Goldfarb". I had one named "SoLow" because he was so low to the ground . I have a mastiff named "Stella" I go into the yard and call Stellaaaaa ( A Street Car Named Desire).
I have a half Siberian Husky, half Pitbull Terrier. She is the sweetest thing. Although she doesn't like childern that much. I think it's because they move to fast and because they are her height. :( I named her Alley Mae because, my ex had some ghetto name for her like Alize. I didn't like it at all, so I changed it to Alley. Mae is my middle name, and I think it just goes well together. When I get mad at her I call her Alice Mead! :P
There are some fun names here. We have Bucky (the barking Cocker Spaniel), King (King Charles Cavalier), Titan (the Chihuahua) and Melba (the cat) Melba was named after a friend. Years ago I helped her rescue a calico cat, she honored me with naming the cat my first name. Years later I got a cat, and gave it her name ;-)
Hi, I have a little Shih Tzu that we adopted in May of '06 and she came to us her name was Cookie, however after she was with us for a few days we changed her name to Olivia. Everyone that sees her when we are on our walks always asks what her name is and when we tell them it is Olivia, they tell me what a cute name and how adorable she is. Her name really suits her looks and personality. We love her dearly.
When I was a kid, we had a Newfoundland named Winston. He was such a Winston. I think this would be my favorite name because he touched my heart so much.
Our Lab is Trouble (hence the name of my store Chubby Trubby) and our Border Collie is The Outlaw Josey Wales. My uncle had a dog named Shadrach, Meshach and to Bed We Go. I've always imagined having a Bloodhound named Belvedere so I could say, "Belvedere, Come Heeerrre Boy, Come Herrre."
I named my Pit Bull Kiera. It's an Irish name (I'm Irish) and it means dark haired/dark one. I thought it fit. I always look up the meanings of the name before I decide on a name. I also prefer unique names.
We pondered names for our 7 wk. old male & female Akitas when we got them...finally, we went with Rocky & Shelby. My husband wanted 'Rocky & Adrienne' from the movies 'Rocky', but I just couldn't go with Adrienne! My son had just got married and his new wife's name is Adrienne, and somehow, I don't think she would have appreciated that too much!! :( lol! So, anyway, I picked Shelby, short for 'Shelby GT'. (I love Mustangs, and my husband is a Chevy man!) They are now 1 1/2 yrs. old and I can't imagine any other name for them!!
My American bull dog's name is Bam Bam . He liked to bam the top of his head on the screen door when he was a pup trying to get in the house. It started out Bandit but that just didn't suit him and he would not answer to it .So Bam Bam it is. And it suits him.He is actually very bright.
