everytime i go out looking for items i run across porcelain dolls for sale and then when i check this spot again a mounth later the same dolls are for sale is the market over saturated and now people are just interested in the older dolls because everything is limited edition

hi mem, seems to be basic supply and demand.
to get best price would be when not many are listed, but to move the item out would be list low and intice many buyers to bid.
it's all a roll of the dice i think.
Best wishes to you for a great week & many sales! Peace.

Hello Memo.
Limited Edition and hard to find vintage dolls are what collectors are looking for., and anything from their childhood. "American Girl Dolls: are in demand.
Have a good night.

I don't know how true it is, but a while back I read a story about porcelain dolls, which said that they were a hot item (particularly on TV shows like the home shopping network in the mid to late 1980, but that sales peaked around 1990 and have taken a nosedive since then . . . in part because manufacturing latecomers jumped on the bandwagon, setting the stage for the current oversupply.

Meanwhile, just this past week I saw another report (maybe one of the online videos I watched featuring an antique dealer that specializes in vintage dolls). It reported that with money tighter than in the past, more collectors are turning to vintage dolls they recall from their past. Especially since those dolls not only pull at one's heartstrings, but often are less expensive, as well.

hi lauren, good points you make there.
personally i like the vintage dolls, i think the hand-painted faces are much more expressive and made at a time when those dolls were very expensive somewhat rare to the masses.
have a g'nite ev'one. Peace.
