Thoughts on overheating

I've got a 96 WS-6 and have been beating my head on the wall with an overheating problem. Started when I took a ride down a Wildlife Preserve unpaved road. Have taken it in to several; encluding the dealer; and no one seems to be able to figure it out. Although more than glad to charge me a grand each time. I recently noticed that the idiot light "Low Coolant" now stays on constantly. Checked Coolant and it's at the proper level and have added the Super Cool to bring down the temp some. I've hooked up my reader and it has identified a problem with the Catalytic Converters. However, this seems to come and go. If I drive like a human, it signals a problem with them. Whereas, if I drive her hard, it seems to blow out the carbon deposits and I'm good until I back off the pedal for a period of time. I'm not hearing any bearing noise in the Water Pump, but I'm debatting dropping in a 160 Themostat. Nonetheless, I'm still concerned as to what's causing the overheating and why the "Low Coolant" light has come on. Any thoughts?

Hello,
did any one flush the Radiator & replace the Censer on it.
Some time ago a friend had the same type of problem, but a little different,
The dummy kept telling him he was over heating, we also checked his thermostat,Coolant "old school test",but found no problems, but we changed the thermostat & Coolant & Flushed the Radiator and reset the brain, the problem had went away, but only after several weekends of hitting a brick wall .
I would also recommend replacing Cat's if you feel they are causing problems for you?
P.S.I too went to the dealership for my 04' Truck & had a fast flasher for one turn signal and the other was steady, spent the hole day there and a gran to find out nothing,So I went to a Tier shop to replace my tiers & they checked the problem, one hour later a bad bulb"not blown, just bad" .

I Hope some of this helps (?),

I have a 90 Chevy Lumina that kept doing a very similar thing. The low coolant light kept coming on over and over. We fixed the problem ourselves by replacing the water temp. sensor and thermostat. It seems the themostat can be bad even if its new. Faulty parts. We even took it one step further by replacing the radiator also. We did all this ourselves in the driveway for less than $200 and in less than 2 hours. The radiator looses its cooling capability due to corrosion and flushing doesn't always do it. Plus remember the heater core can get stopped up. I'm lucky to have a best friend who is a master mechanic to help me out.
