Hi neighbors! We fisherman are all like family, we each have that inner drive to go out there and bust the biggin's or bust our lines and wallets! Some of the things that I wonder and would like to know about from all of us here is your personal prefrences on the following subjects:

1. Spinning or baitcasting?
2. Prefered Line?
3. Favorite Knot used?
4. Saltwater/Freshwater?

I am not asking for secrets but any tips would help, I am trying to learn as much as I can before april that is our first club tourney, I want to skunk my club member's this coming year.
Useful Funny
Hi, here are some suggestions , I fish mostly bass and the lures that i use are mostly a jitterbug for topwater, jigs in cover or around structure or maybe a lizard texas rigged. Spinnerbaits are good too I use them mostly to locate active fish. I use berkley vanish line 12 to 14 lb test. I have a large selection of these lures within my store ZOOXLURES.
thanks , david

Most of the fishing I do is for trout, though occassionally I'll go after bass, pike, kokanee, or catfish. I prefer spinning reels, use anywhere from 4 lb. to 12 lb. Berkley Trilene (depending on how deep I'm fishing and what I'm after) with a #14 size swivel tied to the end of the line to allow quicker lure changes. When fishing with stink or dough baits I tie a leader to a trebble hook with a loop in the opposite end to connect to the swivle. Hope any or all of this helps.

Hi mpierce1128
My preference is spin casting using either stren or berkely products mostly
fresh water as no oceans nearby for knots you got me as to the name of it, Its almost like a hang mans knot and it doesn't pinch the line as bad as some knots you put line through the lure and twist it 6 to 8 times and put the end back through the opening at the bottom and snug it down. I use steel leaders for musky and pike (sharp teeth will cut line) line directly to lure for Bass Trout and walleye using light action and medium action equipment,I hope this babble helps good luck in the spring

Baitcasters when I'm trolling, spinning reels for EVERYTHING else, I like stren low vis green line but they came out with this invisible line I'm going to try this year, My favorite knot is the improved cinche not, easy enough to tie and rarely ever come undone, Most definately freshwater I have been on the gulf of Mexico and off the coast of virginia beach, My wife and I go to the Boundry Waters everyother year and enjoy fishing for walleye but when they aren't biting the smallmouth fishing up there is incredible,if you've never been its the most beautiful place on Earth to fish and relax, I've been going since 93 and my wife went yearly with her grand parents when she was young and has never quit, we also like to go to Weiss lake in Alabama early in the spring to get some of those 15inch slab crappies

The most important thing I've learned over the years of fishing, is using the right knot. I used to tie that old fisherman's knot where you twisted the line around and ran it through the bottom loop, etc......I lost many Hawgs due to the knot coming apart. I switched to the palomar knot and haven't lost a fish yet. The palomar knot is the only knot used by Kevin Van Dam (#1 Bass fisherman in the World) on all types of line. This can be verified by going to the KVD forum. As for line, I am currently using Stren original in moss green, but about to start trying p-line based on the super product reviews.

My favorite lure is the Rapala floating minnow (F-7). This lure in F-7 size is the number 1 selling lure in the world. It catches so many different species, it is unbelievable. Topwater fishing can't be matched, watching fish attack your lure really brings an incredible rush.

I can't really answer this yet, I'm just getting back into fishing after not doing any for 15 years. I'm just freshwater fishing now, never been saltwater... really want to go! I got back into fishing because a buddy of mine created the leverage fishing lure and helped create the warrior fishing rod. he was getting rid of his old rods and lures and kind of reeled me back in.

I use baitcasting rigs. My partner uses both spin and casting rigs. We fish small bass club tournaments. It's basicaly what you're most comfortable fishing with. I prefer Trilene. It seems to have less stretch and doesn't have the issue of getting brittle like some other products I've used. Favorite knot? Where I'm from we actually call it a "trilene knot". It's simple and works. Freshwater is were you find the "moss-backs". Just remember: you can't catch 'em unless your lure's wet.
