Now that I got your attention; Has anyone out there ever fished somewhere they were not supposed to be ??? Where you aware of it ? Were there any signs posted ? I'm a very laid back fisherman, so I can't enjoy fishing where its prohibited.... HOWEVER; hunting is a totally seperate issue !!!! BRUNO
I used to live in Marysville ,Ca. next to some gold dredging ponds on the Yuba river they had no trespassing signs. I was 12 or 13 years old and could slip under the gate with no problem. th bass fishing was AWSOME though
Golf Course ponds at night are one of my favorites. When I am playing golf I always go check out the ponds to see if they hold fish. I then will head back at night and fish with black worms or topwater baits. I always make sure to leave the place as I found it. Only thing to look out for are sprinklers turning on nearby.

Never poached but did see where people just let the fish out of water to die for fun. But poaching should be reported. Never did without asking the landowner first.
I don't know of any true fisherman, that has not poached a tank here or there, especially here in Texas. That sense of adventure tends to leave us as we get older though....Thats sad!..I guess it is because we can't run as fast..Ha.
A few years ago here in Wisconsin I fished in a fish refuge, it was a small area below a little dam where a creek flowed out of a lake that was closed during the spring to allow walleyes to spawn without any interference. I was just casting away when a warden came up behind me and pulled me aside to give me a ticket. Funny thing is I walked right past two or three signs that said "FISH REFUGE, NO FISHING" without even taking notice of them. If I would have noticed the signs beforehand I could have saved some money that day!
If an area is posted "NO FISHING" I stay away from it till the area is legally open, because around here those are the places that wardens check the most. I do however target a certain species before the open season and will continue to do so untill I get popped for it. I catch and release every single one and do my best to get them back in the water as soon as possible.
I think its the lure of catching a monster fish out of a private place is what causes people to do this. I once heard of a place here in NJ where monster bass was. The lake was on a hunting club property and off limits to the public. After finding directions and a 45 minute drive and a 20 minute walk in the woods from the road it never lived up to the hype. I did catch some nice bass but never the monsters i twas told about. In the end it was not worth the time when there was better places to fish with out getting hassled.
