What Books/Cookbooks Would you Recommend which Reflect an Appreciation of Great Tasting, Healthy Food??
Here are my current Favorites:
Food to Live By, by Myra Goodman. 2006. Thick paperback with lots of shiny photos of Beautiful, Delicious looking Organic Food.
Gourmet Every Day, by Catherine Bergen. 2006. Hardback, also with lots of shiny photos! Tips for becoming an Everyday Gourmet. Focuses on food found in Napa Valley, so uses lots of Balsamic Vinaigrettes.
Gluten-free Girl. By Shauna James Ahern. 2007. More of a book about a lifestyle of eating and cooking Goumet Food which for her (and for me!) has to be Gluten-Free. Some recipes are included but the book is more of an overall philosophy of living and dining with zest, always choosing fresh over processed. Lots of flours as alternatives to wheat flour are discussed.
Would love to hear about similar books if you've read them, or if you offer them for sale.
Food Men Love, by Margie Lapanja 2001, Not only is this a great cookbook - it's a hoot to read. The recipes are divine and spare no calories. Lots of storytelling, tips, history, trivia, quotes, and is a little naughty. For instance, Margies Apple Piagra "Makes 1 dose of Piagra; cures 1 to 8 men." Mario Batali writes in the Foreword: Food Men Love reads like an owner's manual for those three things: food, men, and, most important, love. Watch out marriage counselors and divorce attorneys: This book may put you out of business." This book has 209 pages. I read the entire book in one setting--- and then got busy cooking. Read it and use it, you won't be disappointed.
Well, as Dominican i want to say, that the best Dominican Cookbook is : MUJER 2000 by Silvia de Pou. This lady has already 3 books, it includes Dominican and Latin Cuisine. It is the most complete and everytime I need to double check I go there! Thanks!!!!!!
