I loved the old Chef Boyardee pizza kits from a few decades back, but the current Chef Boyardee pizzas don't taste the same at all. I understand that the Chef Boyardee company was purchased by another company, & the recipe changed at that time. The new sauce included in the pizza kit box is not the same at all now. Does anyone have a copycat recipe or any suggestions for replicating that old Chef Boyardee pizza sauce? I'm interested specifically in the Chef Boyardee pizza sauce from years ago, not the sauce that currently comes with the kits now. Any recipes or ideas?
We were poor and we lived on Chef Boyardee Pizza mixes in the box. What a challenge it was to stretch the dough over the pan; talk about thin! And we drank half the sauce before it got on there.
