I am looking to swap from the inline six spindles to a V8 spindle and I would like to swap to disc brakes at the same time. I have heard that spindles from a 69-73 mustang will fit and work on my 66? Is this true, does anyone know?
76/77 mercury montego spindles are 12inches just like mustangs from ball joint to ball joint caliper mounts to spindle so you need to find brake line adapters to convert or redo brake lines i also used 77/78 pinto wagon mastercylinder and proportioning valve so the front end does not dive under hard braking your going too have to change almost all of the six cylinder steering components over to v8 parts the montego i found was the lat year with both an upper and lower a-arm newer years went to a strut to replace the upper a-arm so make sure you get the older style spindle
I have New in boxes I purchased from chockoo Mustang I know they fit 68 to 71 these are show cond. and stock for the years above I also have the master cycl. and booster, these are single piston, also will work on 67 not sure about 66 but if it will work you can save a lot of money I was going to use on 68 Gt but sold the car still have brakes,, every thing spindles pro. valve, calp.s 434-929-2801 ask for gordon
FIND SOME ORIGINAL 65-66 MUSTANG V-8 SPINDLES AND ADD THE STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE CORPS. DISC CHANGEOVER WITH STAINLESS PISTONS. YOU MUST CHANGE THE TIE RODS AND CENTER LINK, IDLER ARM AND PITMAN ARM, STEERING BOX IS THE SAME. THE STAINLESS PISTONS ARE WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY. ADD A DUAL MASTER OR THE BIG SHELBY SINGLE MASTER CYLINDER . DONT FORGET A NICE ADJUSTABLE PROPORTIONING VALVE. EASY, BOLT-ON, AVAILABLE PARTS. GOOD LUCK.
