I have to replace the water pump and i am having trouble getting the fan clutch off. i have the specialty tools but I can not get the nut for the fan clutch off.Does anyone know any tricks or ideas to get this job done.
Pretty sure you have left hand threads, turn right to remove. Some are really tight. Do you have the tool to hold it with? I usually get someone to hold it in place and take a hammer and hit the wrench to break it loose. Or you can use a breaker bar.
If what the guys said fails. Heat up the nut with a torch, this usually works to crack it open. If nut/bolt strips - retread with a die and get a new nut to install. Hope this helps if the boys ideas fail. :o) Ms. Traci PS - If you have to, retread to a smaller nut and purchase right nut for the die you used, Use bolt/screw gauge to do this.
