I am wondering what people are growing this season. I like the way things are coming to life here in the Northeast, it is a very short growing season for outside gardens in Maine, but when things start to go they grow fast!
I am growing all kinds of interesting stuff this year. The plant a lot of people find interesting in my backyard is a coral tree (jatropha multifida). I've only had it for a year but it's already six feet tall. It's in constant bloom.
Other than that - been eating tomatoes out of the garden since May. My edamame is about ready to be harvested. Love them!
Lets see what do I have growing? Oh I have Lavender, Swiss chard, peppermint, chocolate mint, mosquito plant, sweet potatoe vine, canna, elephant ear, roses, pansy, moon flower, small fancy gouard mix, pineapple sage, rosemarry, pink evening prim rose, black widdow, ribbon grass, tomatoe, banana pepper, califlower, brocolie, blackberry, water lettuce, ivy, daylily, sage, ponytail palm, and a seedling of a maple tree. I bet there are more I just can not think of them right now. LOL. I have our yard looking pretty cramped at the moment so I had to stop buying stuff! in tomatoes alone we have 20 of them.
This is the first year I have planted anything - just tomato plants and some bell pepper plants. All from seed. My bell pepper seeds were old, though, and only one is starting to produce anything. Getting lots of tomatoes - about 5 different types. Delicious! I do have pics - maybe I can post them...
I have started several different kinds of mints this year that I have never tried before: Bananna mint, Apple, chocolate, orange, and lavender to name a few. I also have added scented geraniums. I am looking forward to bringing them inside for the winter months to be "living potpourri". I am going to attempt to winter over the mints as well. I have had luck with basils in winters past.
HI my name is Ann and I love to garden. This year I have 10 tomato plants, 8 grean beans, 2 zuchinni 2 eggplant 2 bell peppers 8 cucumber tons of strawberry plants 1 pumpkin (my son is growing on his own) Asparagus, and raspberries oh yes and I have an apple tree.
Oh and you are going to love those mints the apple mint is the favorite of my children they keep on eating that fuzzy plant. I also have chocolate mint and orange mint and just plaint old peppermint.
Hi, I had a new yard to fill this year as we had taken over my husbands family home. This yard had no plants in it and I put in several plants for the first season. I have started putting in plants that will come back year after year. I put in several rose bushes, a blue rose of sharon (very pretty colored flower on it) , a hydrangea bush ( these are great, it bloomed all summer and now that fall is here it is still blooming.) , a hybiscus plant ( tropical like flowers-Pretty), I tried day lillies ( very pretty pink blooms in this variety), I put in a few hostas, and we even put in a weeping double cherry tree ( this took really well and is coming along nicely-Can't wait until spring for it to bloom.). I love to put birdfeeders and hummingbird feeders amoung my garden beds. This year I added three hummingbird feeders to this new yard, I had 4 to 5 hummers. I am going to add more next year and hopefully I will see more of the tiny birds. For the winter I will add more seed feeders for our feathered friends who will come to visit. Have a great fall everyone and enjoy the fall foliage, it is just starting to peak here, Betty-Jean
