I am just learning about different core materials and was wondering if anyone would suggest a ball to try, I've been through nike, dunlop and prostaff...not happy yet
Useful Funny
My new favorite is the NikeOne Platinum which has a 2006 version out there on sale right now (at TGW.com for example.) I think it compares favorably with the ProV1. Hope this helps.

I think a lot depends on your swing speed and what you are looking for in a ball. The ProV1 is great for me but when it gets to be cooler weather I like the Callaway Pearl. I'm accurate, but not super long with my irons, so I want a ball that I can control. The Bridgestone Tour balls also are very responsive but the price is about the same as the ProV1

I think a good ball for the average player is a precept ball. They have a distance ball which is good for someone with a moderate swing speed.

I think the Nike, dunlop and prostaff are all too hard and I'm a feel player. You might want to try a softer ball such as the Precept or a Callaway.

I would suggets the pro V1 or the Pro V 1X. The X seems to go a little further, but feels the same to me as the Pro V1. Just be careful those balls are soft and after about five or six wedge shots, (esp with a vokey spin milled) you are going to have to change balls.

It really depends on what level player you are and how much you want to spend. I am a 14 handicap and I currently play with the Top-Flite D2 Feel and really believe these are the best ball for your money. At a dollar a ball you really can't go wrong! I have played Titleist, Callaway, Nike, Bridgestone and for the price these balls are worth a look.

I am currently about an 8 handicap, and I am a big fan of the Titleist Pro V series of ball. I get good response and feel from the ball, and am able to hit it fairly long. I am not a long hitter, but rely more on shotmaking and approaches for scoring.

If you are going to spend the money on the Pro V-1's, you should give the Callaway HX Tour's a try. For a little less money you can also try the Callaway HX Hot's. In my opinion, both are great balls. Good luck and keep it in the short grass !!!

You should really try the Callaway HX Tour. Medium priced, good feel, good distance.

Titleist is the best, ive tried them all. To me it depends on what you are trying to get out of the ball. If you want more distance, than you want to go with a harder ball. This ball is firm and plays straight and far but you lack control and feel and spin. If you want control then you need a soft ball. this allows better control and feel (backspin, draws, fades). But with the titleist you can get the best of both worlds. I would shop titleist and look at their balls.

That's like asking what kind of pie is best or ice cream. Purely subjective but since you asked...Titleist Pro-V1 is the best ball. I like Callaway HX-Tour and Nike One Platinum as well. I recently played a round with one of the Bridgestone e6 balls and really liked it. Probably helped that I shot 79. That's my $0.02. Your mileage may vary. :-)

I would try The Bridgestone 330 or their E5 or E6. Last week they received a HUGE settlement from Titleist due to patent infringement. The Bridgestone is seamless and spins more with irons than the driver...perfect. For the next 2 years Titleist has to pay Bridgestone for all Pro Vs, NXTs, and Pinnacle Exceptions sold. Finally Bridgestone makes all of Nike's balls as well.

At a 13 handicap I’ll play whatever I can find as long as it’s a ProV series, Callaway HX or Hot, or Bridgestone E6. NikeOne Platinum as mentioned before is a good ball..I just can’t hit them very well for some reason.
Actually the NXT Tour is not a bad ball for the money. Anything else I use up on the range.
