with a name like r palmer 62 you must be good!!
If so obviously the pro v 1, but it sounds like you just getting started so I wouldn't waste your money to expensive to be losing.
Try the Lady precept, you"ll get more yardage off the tee and they are soft feeling around the green.
I'm a 3 hndcp and I use theese in the winter because of the 70 - 80% compression, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
keep it in the short grass!!

I agree with the others that have said it depends on Clubhead speed. However, Titleist Pro V1 & X are top notch. I've had some pretty good rounds using the Nike PowerSoft ball too.

I like OPLB's (other peoples lost balls) while I'm searching for the all too often yank or push I hope to procure a few Prov1's, HX Tours, Bridgestones and an occasoinal Slazenger is nice. The balls I dislike are the ones golfers write on. Hey the sweet spot line is ok but we don't need your name or initials on it!! Is there not a rule against that? Tiger would whoop us all with a scuffed up, cut up, so faded you don't know what it is ball!! It's 99.9% talent, practice and focus .00001% ball. Love the game and swing hard in case you hit it!!

A good suggestion is get a good ball grabber and pull all the pro vs you want out of lakes and brush. I have sorted more than 5000 over the past yr by walking the course to practice in the evening. Although I play only pro v1x's now. I do like and used to play the srixon zur ball which is relatively affordable, and I didnt see it mentioned. Proper regular practice with professional advice does more than any ball though. Good Golf to You!

pro v-1's. most used ball on tour. little pricey, but if you want something good but not as pricey try callaway hx tours or bridgestine tours

I like the Maxfli Fire Tour. I think its the best ball for the money, you can get them on sale and Dicks sporting goods, 2 for $30. Pretty hard to beat that price and they are every bit as long and soft as a Pro V1. I don't generate a lot of backspin so I cannot comment on that but they do hold.

There are a couple kids who sell used golf balls that they find on the course where I play. They are cheap and I have tried them all. I personally think that Max Fly Noodle travels the furtherist. But in reality all the name brands go well off the tee. If you can really get all your body weight behind the swing they'll go. But then you reach a point where you are swinging too hard and things go bad and your enjoyment level drops. I just bought 51 balls on e-bay and 36 of them were max fly and other fifteen were Wilson.
I also like Wilson Staff balls, I play the orange ones because they are easier to find.

If you want to hit the ball long and straight, but still have some feel and spin on the green, then you need to play the Lady Precept or the Bridgestone e6, both of which have already been recommended. Both balls have lower compression, which means they spin less off the club face, lowering the chances of exaggerated hooks or slices. The lower spin rate also helps the ball fly further in the air. Enjoy.

Hi, some lesser known balls but still a great bang for your buck - Maxfli Noodle, Precept Laddie (the original is prefered), Nike Tour Accuracy, Callaway Big Bertha. Pretty much everything by Titleist will be of high quality, Pro V1's of course if you are a great golfer and if you have the dough, but the NXT Tour is the best all around ball I have found. Of course the most important aspect is personal preference - Cheers! GBP

I have used Callaway HX and Maxfli noodles, but like someone said earlier, it is more reliant on your speed and your game.

I think the construction of the ball is much more important than the brand.
In general, if you are a mid to higher handicap, and need more distance, go with a two piece ball. Lower handicaps usually use a 3 piece. Higher handicaps, use a lower spin ball, lower handicaps use a spin rating comparable to your game. Retief Goosen said it best in an article I read recently in Golf magazine. If you're a mid to high handicap use whatever you can afford, it's not really going to matter.

I don't know if they make the balatta version of the Srixon anymore but I found that to be one of the best balls I have ever played with. Can't seem to find them in stores anymore.
Other than that if you want to spend big bucks buy the Pro VI's, and if you want to stay cheap but still have a good ball I would go with either the Nike One or the Precept MC. Both are about an 7.5 out of 10, compared to a 10 on both the Pro V and the Srixon.
