Hi, I have used a Magellan once before and found it to be user friendly. I had no difficulty entering in the addresses. Problem is I am moving to Salt Lake City, Utah and the streets there are numbered in the front and then there is another number such as 2200 West 1200 South. Do you think this would be a problem with the GPS? I currently live in California and just need something to help me with my new town, rather than mapping everything or holding a stack of googled directions. Any advice is appreciated. Also, I am nervous about the "refurbished to factory standards" and would prefer new unless it is a waste of money.
You can pick up a TOM TOM One Generation 3 brand new in stores, on eBay, or from Dell for anywhere from $129 to $169. It is a user friendly, basic GPS, that works great and easy on the wallet. We've used our TOM TOM One for streets such as you described, and havent had any problems.

I have bought and sold quite a few GPS's. I have tested pretty much all of them out that I have had. Many TomTom's, Magellans, and Garmin's. I'd have to say the best one for the price is the Garmin Nuvi 200. It is very loud, great screen and seems to have better routing than tomtom. TomTom had more otehr features but the nuvi 200 has more useful ones. Plus is very easy to use. Type in Nuvi 200. There are allot for around $150. I believe the garmin maps have # addresses and streets down pat. Sometimes Refurbs are better than new. They have been thouroughly tested. Just make sure it hasn't been registered and Garmin will probably let you have a free update to the latest maps if it doesn't have them when you register it to garmin.
I would not be concerned about getting something that is refurbished. Usually the work was done by the original manufacturer but not always and looks new. I would just make sure that the manufacturer did the refurbishment and that there is some type of guarantee so that you can get replacement or your money back. Usually they work but one time I bought a Logitech Computer Mouse on eBay like that which did not work. They took it back for refund and paid shipping both ways. Only thing I lost was time. If price is 1/2 or less I would go with refurbished or rebuilt.
