According to specs, the battery only lasts for about 2 hours.
Once the battery has been depleted, can you still use the unit, as long as it is plugged in? Or, does it have to have a charge before it can be used again? Is there anything wrong with getting the "3rd Edition"? Also, does the charger plug into the windshield mount, or into the unit itself?
It has been my experience, that the unit will function perfectly while plugged in and will also charge the battery at the same time. Nothing wrong with the 3rd edition, just like software, later versions usually mean improvement(not always). Finally the charger plugs into the unit. Hope this helps............
Hello! We were wondering the same question about the internal battery of the TOMTOM One Gen 3, as to what happens after the battery has been depleted over time. So, over time once the battery gets to the point where it will no longer charge, the unit will still operare as normal as long as youre running it plugged in?
As for the Gen 3's, we're new to using GPS Units and have them in most of our vehicles, but even with us being new to using them, we find the Gen 3 to be limited as to what you can do. There are plenty of times when we need more information and such when on the road, and the unit is just limited. The Gen 3's work well, and as they should, but wish we would have bought more advanced units. We'll end up replacing them probably within a year or so, to better meet our needs.

Also, yes, the TOMTOM One Gen 3 cable plugs into the unit itself, and not the windshield mount. Hope this info helps!
