WARNING!!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY FROM GUITARELICS of NY

I purchased a 2006 Taylor GS8 from these guys. There are a number of problems with the product. The first is a crack 14 inches long and about 1/4 wide on the lower bout. It appears that the cheap aftermarket pre amp that was installed in this guitar and held in place by what looks like magnets glued to velcro came loose during shipping because when I picked the guitar up out of the case I heard it banging around inside so it was obviously dislodged. I then discovered the large crack. I am assuming this is what caused the crack. I contacted the seller and told him I was going to ship it back and expected a full refund. He told me it was not his problem and he has no responsibility once it leaves his store. He told me to file a claim with FedEx for damage. I told him that was his responsibility as the seller and I wanted a refund according to his return policy. He would not authorize the return so I called FedEx. They also told me it is normally the shipper who files the claim, in fact the shipper will have to call them and give them the OK to settle the claim with me. I contacted him once again and asked him to allow the return and he refused. He then contacted FedEx to tell them it was OK to settle the claim with me. The claim is still pending and I may get a few bucks out of it but from the people I have talked to about this they all agreed on a few things.
1. FedEx will only pay the labor to have it repaired
2. I will never be able to sell this guitar now because it will be worth a fraction of what I paid for it.
3. The seller should allow a return, refund my money and file a claim with FedEx
4. Improper packaging by the seller is the root cause of this and therefore they should be the responsible party, not me

This claim is still pending, I will post updates as it unfolds.

I too bought a Gibson guitar from them. They told me how great it played, action was great. When i received it the fretboard had a crack in it & the pickups had come loose & were stuck to the strings from the magnet in the pickups. The action was set up so high, it was a joke, never played. I was able to fix & set it up & is now a good guitar. So I agree BEWARE OF THEM.

Hi;

You should complain to eBay; because they did not clearly display a return policy ....

I checked the listing out, and I had to follow a link trail to their eBay Store, and then the Store Policies, where it merely says that all items are "as is" unless specified differently in the listing.

This incident points up another difficulty of trying to use eBay to find something .... merely because someone puts up a "store" page on eBay, does not mean that they are indeed a store in the traditional sense ....

I dont know much about ebay just now because i have only been on this for a short while but this is terrible...they cant give you damaged
goods.

Should you not have looked at the comments from previous buyers though. This is one thing I like about Ebay..Maybe you should try it in future.

But I feel for you man. Hope you get that repaired by ebay or guitarelics.

I have filed a dispute with paypal and they have taken the money out of Guitarelics account. as soon as they did that Rudy at Guitarelics became very nice to me. he has now offered a refund if I send the guitar back. it is being shipped back to him now so I will have to wait and see if it turns out OK for me. the only reason he is giving me a return is because of the Paypal buyer protection, I will always make sure sellers offer this before I buy (as I did with this) I just never thought I would have to use it.

I feel for you too, check out my CargoLargo fiasco posted above, they baited and switched me. I paid almost twice as much for the amp they sent me instead of the one I should have recieved. Check your purchases over 3 times, then start writing everyone if somethings wrong,( Ebay and Paypal), My seller did nothing, Ebay sent me a credit after no response from the seller, I emailed them 4 times and called once, sent pictures and everything, one response "what's wrong" replied to them again and that's it, see you later sucker.

Hey spoon923 ... I sincerely hope you get this resolved soon. I cannot imagine anyone butchering a Taylor GS guitar - that's shameful.

I am on the hunt for a decent Gibson Hummingbird dread.

hi mate hope you get this problem resolved these guys should not be trading if they are selling dodgy goods taylor make fantastic guitars so my guess is its down to them. i recently bought a tanglwood (not from them) and where the bridge is the discription said that the bridge had wooden dowells fitted to strenthen the bridge??? on tuning the guitar for the first time the bridge came of this nugget had pop riveted the bridge to the guitar it cost me £30 to get it repaired at least its gone to a good home mine plays great now though. best of luck.
