Hi I just joined. I started playing in my early 50's and i'm 57 now. I need lessons but don't have the time. i'll add lessons to my retirement wishlist. I have about ten acoustic guitars and one electric "dano" My acoustics include: spruce top martin custom D15, 12-string washburn, yamaha classical, a canadian art & lutherie "ami" nylon string, and a bunch of others. My everyday favorite is a parlor sized open-headstock steel string Hohner HF-75, this cheepo made in china is so good I bought three of them. Rich
I own many iconic guitars like Lennons Epi Casino,Epi Goth Les Paul, headless Steinberger, Fender chrome Dobro, bluesie Tele Thinline, Ibanez Flying V, acoustics by Ovation, Ibanez, Epiphone, Washburn
I would have to say my FAV is any guitar that a chick is holding cause that to me is way to atractive, but i have an ibanez sa and s series both red swrils and i love them and i love my custom Jem, i cant pick a fav but i saw this $120 guitar at K-mart it was so plastic and wrong, but if i bought it i could replace the pickups with Dimarzio ones then id be rokin that :)
I have two favorite guitars. My custom Strat and a Gibson Hummingbird.
I spared no expense having the finest luthier in the tristate area make this Strat, including a rare $1200.00 body. Total cost to make the guitar alone was $2,600.00. Not including labor. The guitar looks and plays as well as it sounds. It has great action and it has long sustain, with clean and clear notes.
The neck is an Eric Clapton soft "V" neck made to his own specifications of beautiful flamed maple. It has an Ebony fretboard which has not been dyed like most ebony and is in it's natural state. It looks like smooth rosewood with Abalone dots. The frets are Fender vintage and made of stainless steel. They have been crowned so they are not sharp. You won't wear these out in a lifetime. The neck is perfectly straight.
It doesn't stop there. The body was made by Warmoth, licensed by Fender. The body is made of a rare 1-piece AAAAA quilted maple. (AAAAA is the highest rating for guitar wood bodies) This is not a veneer top and separate body, but a 1-piece body quilted on the top and bottom and flamed (curly) on the sides. The body has been dyed red with 7 coats of hand rubbed poly clear finish. It has a deep rich brilliant shine that people are in awe when they see it.
The Schaller locking tuners, LSR roller nut and vintage tremolo keep it in tune. The pickguard is 3-ply (white/black/white) vinyl and will not discolor or shrink with age. To round things out is a set of Lace "Holy Grail" Ultra-Vintage pickups giving you great sound without the noise or hum. The "Holy Grail's" break through design retains the depth and sparkle that is the hallmark of vintage pickups with higher output and more sustain.
You can see some pics on my "guitar" neighborhood.
