Hi Everyone!
Does any one know why you cannot ship First Class International Mail through paypal? You can ship Priority or Express but not First Class.
Just curious if anyone knew why.
Useful Funny
HI: I believe you can't get tracking number with first class international. Maybe that's why? I would just contact paypal and ask. I shipped international to 4 countries before, but I sent my packages from the post office, I didn't use paypal. Now I do, because it offers a tracking option.
Good luck!

When I asked about this, I was told it was because USPS is not allowed to offer first class international due to unfair competition to the companies that offer a paid service (endicia, stamps.com). it is not offered through USPS Click n Ship either and paypal connects to their system. Irritating.

If you want to ship something first class to save money to the customer, you can do it through usps, but you have to go to the post office--that's what I did, but you won't get tracking--watch out for the bad buyers that will say they didn't get your items and ask paypal for money back. I am happy to say that all of my packages were recieved by the 4 international customers, although if they were dishonest, they could've said they didn't get the items and file a fake dispute with paypal--in which case without a tracking number, paypal ALWAYS SIDES WITH THE BUYER. Now, after I learned all this, I am more careful whom I ship to and how. I recently saw a power seller with over 10000 positive feedback that got 8 negatives from the same international buyer because the buyer claimed didn't reicieve the items. She gave the money back and that buyer still left her the negatives, after she got the money. Now with the new feedback system and the great power international buyers have for being able to leave negative and can lie about not recieving their items if you sell them first class--and sellers can't do anything about it--watch out! I refuse most international transactions from buyers with negative feedback, but I accept some that I feel positive about. Some ebayers don't ship international at all, or they do so only express mail, so you can do whatever YOU want. If I trust a buyer and we communicate with each other I do sell first class international, but you will take a risk.
Good luck!

Hi, i just wanted to clarify that Yes i agree there are some untrustworthy international buyers but as an international buyer i have encountered more than one untrustworthy seller who keep me strung along so i don't file a dispute and then when the timeframe for opening a dispute has elapsed they won't contact me at all. It's a risk both ways. I like to have faith though in people and i hate to mistrust. I know this has nothing to do with the topic but i just felt i had to reply and say it's a 2 way thing. Anyway i absolutely adore Gymboree. Can't be bought here so i depend on Ebay to give me my daily fix of Gymboree. I am an absolute addict!!

I really do whish they would allow First Class shipping through paypal or USPS online. It would make my life so much easier. I ship internationally all the time and I have never had a problem. I use poly mailers and use all capital letters that are very clear........this definitely helps in the shipping process. I guess I take the risk of having a chargeback because for me the increase of sales outweighs the money I might be out. Good luck!!

Hi mcgarrigle4452 and everyone else,
I do ship internationally, but only to ebayers who had not recieved several negative feedbacks for reporting an item not received. I also worn all others ebayers that contact me about international shipping that if they don't choose to have an item shipped express mail, they won't be able to track the package in case there is a problem. Once in a while, I guess it's possible for a package to get lost, but several times, it sounds like they may be dishonest and I don't take that chance. mcgarrigle4452, I think you should file something with paypal, document all your emails and the fact that the seller didn't bother to get in touch with you--so sorry to hear this, I see your feedback and obviously you are a great, honest buyer. I hope you won't let one rotten seller ruin your experience. I do think you should try to report the seller to paypal and to ebay, so she/he won't get away with this and do this to someone else. I do know there are a lot of great buyers on ebay and you are one of them. I could never do what that seller did to you, I would consider it stealing. I shipped a package to Canada before and it took almost 30 days to arrive. Since it was shipped first class, I couldn't track it, and I was very nervous about being lost when the customer contacted me after 3 weeks and told me she didn't get it. Luckly my buyer was also a seller and she was patient, she believed me I sent it to her, so when she recieved it she still left positive feedback because she could see the post mark and how long shipping took. There is a problem with buyers having to leave feedback within a 30 day period with the new feedback system. Some buyers may be anxious that if they wait too long they won't be able to leave feedback for a missing package and may decide to leave negative quicker than before. I think ebay should have a different time frame for international transactions to report an item not recieved, since shipping takes much longer.
Good luck! :)

Hi there, I have been selling gymbo on ebay for close to three years. However I am new to these forums. This is actually my first post and I look forward to talking and learning from all of you. Anyway, to follow the discussion. I love to ship internationally! A large part of my business is international customers. I ship first class all the time and to date have never had a problem. I wish paypal did let us print postage it would be a real time saver not sure why they don't. I just bring all packages to the PO. But for me it is worth it to have all my international customers. I love building relationships with moms all over the world and honestly it keeps me in business. SO fo me it is a win win situation. Not sure if I answered the question but I hope this helps.

I asked my local post master why I could not send International First Class via the web. She said it was because of the strict weight restrictions that First Class has and, it would be too expensive to have packages returned overseas due to insufficient postage. To address the honesty issue, I always check out my international buyers feedback AND the feedback they have left for others. I think this can give you a glimpse as to what kind of buyer they are and if it's worth the risk. So far, I have had no problems! :)

Back a couple months ago (in May?) when they raised postage again, they also changed prices and shipping rules with international first class packages. I don't know if you were familiar with how first class packages used to be considered a "large envelope", and then they changed it to "parcel, or package". They have just went and done the same thing with the international first class packages. Every country has different rules and pricing when it comes to "parcels", which is why you have to take them to the post office. I always used the automated machine in the post office after hours, but now because of this change, I can no longer use it. I have to go during hours to a clerk to ship my first class international packages now. They told me they don't think they will ever load all of that information into the machine I use because it would just be too much. Maybe that goes the same for paypal shipping. I am in the same boat. I don't know what to do. I hate to cut of international buyers, as they've been some of the best, but I also hate to have to scramble to drive to the post office during hours.

I am getting inquiries for first class shipping to Canada. I would rather do priority mail but it is too expensive. I just want the delivery confirmation.

I just started shipping internationally and so far so good. I only do first class mail because priority is too expensive. I have always shipped to Canada, and I get a lot of buyers from Canada.

Hi I ship first clas with stamps.com and they give you delivery info and tracking numbers. So for me it is woth it to pay for this service.ALSO with first class international, once you pay an put the info into the system you can print and use a stick on shipping label! you don't have to place it in that special folder.Stamps.com is really a good option for me. I don't us pay pal anymore
