SOOO unfair! What is up with feedback blackmail?! I paid promptly after the auction ended (like 5 minutes) and I get negative feedback for leaving nuetral feedback?! Ebay should have a policy on this!
I really think you need to report this to EBAY. I took a look at the seller that gave you the feedback and while he/she does not get negative feedback very often, when they do, they do "return the favor" by giving negative feedback.
Hi, That sucks!! I have never given negative feedback because of the fear that someone will leave me negative feedback in return. I have dealt with buyers in the past that "threaten" to leave you negative feedback if you don't give them what they want. I had a customer buy a lot of dresses from me (mostly gymboree) that were worn by my daughter for 1 summer, and then when she got them she thought they were too worn, so I had to refund her some money via paypal or she would leave me negative. Even though I stood behind my description and I thought that these dresses were in great shape and only worn a few times, I ended up giving her a $8.00 refund. Next time though I am not....I always look over everything so closely, but some people you just never please, they want brand new Gymboree clothing at next to nothing price.
I actually did report to Ebay- but I looked through their feedback policy very closely and I don't think I will be able to do anything about it. Sucks though- I always pay right after the auction ends, and I always try to communicate. Those red dots look so ugly!! I was striving towards 100% feedback and now because of a few poor sellers, I don't. From now on, I won't leave feedback at all. But on the other hand, that sucks because I would want to know if a seller is bogus, and the only way to tell is by looking at their feedback. I just really hope that when someone looks at my feedback, they look at the other person's feedback and see that I was not the only person having problems with that seller....
Here is the reply that I received from Ebay on this matter. (It seems encouraging):
Dear Kacey, Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the feedback that you received from "purrfectpurrs05". I understand your concern and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Kacey, there are significant changes are being made to eBay's Feedback system which should address your concerns. These changes, which will go into effect within this month of May, were just recently announced and are detailed at the following link: http://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/new.html At this time, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. The present system prevented buyers from leaving honest Feedback since they feared retaliation from the sellers if they left a negative. This made it harder for buyers to distinguish between sellers while making bidding or buying decisions. In addition, when buyers received negative Feedback, they reduced their activity in the marketplace, which in-turn harmed sellers. Again, these changes will take place within May. Please be patient with us as we work behind the scenes to prepare for this. Hopefully you'll agree these changes will be an improvement to the eBay Feedback system. As of the moment, please be assured that the Feedback Forum is set up insuch a way that most members can tell the difference between legitimate criticism and retaliatory comments that just aren't true--especially when they see the unfair comments in the context of the member's Feedback Profile as a whole.
YEA!!! :) (Because I just got MORE negative feedback for the same reason) I'm so frustrated!
I think that this is a perfect example of why E-Bay changed the feedback system. It is really shameful that a handful of vendictive sellers has taken a very resourceful tool away from the sellers that are building their business on customer service.
I know exactlly what you all mean with the negative feedback bit its so bad! I had to leave negative feedback for a seller cause I payed but never received the Item I sent many emails to try to find out what was going on but to no answer so finally I left Negative feedback saying that I never received the Item and got my money back through paypal and like almost instantly I received negative feedback for leaving it!! Its soo not fair but then this new thing stating that a seller can not leave a buyer feedback ins't such a good idea either cause most of my feedback is as a buyer since I don't sell to much on here. so all of my postitvie feedback is goin to come to a hault. I guess that there is only so much that can be done
The change will be that sellers can't leave negative or nuetral feedback- they can still leave positive feedback, so you will continue getting your good feedback.
I think that another good way to do this is require the seller to leave feedback right after payment has been made- within 24 hours. That would also cut down on a lot of the revenge feedback. **I'm having another issue with an item that has taken almost a onth to get to me. You better bet that I WON'T be leaving feedback this time** :(
Yeah Its horrible that you can't leave feedback for someone with out being afraid of revenge feedback. Other buyers wont know the truth about the seller so not leaving and leaving a fake positive are about the same. I do like that Idea of the seller having to leave feedback as soon as payment is received so they aren't able to hold your feedback hostage. sooo many times sellers won't leave any feedback cause they are doing just that holding it hostage so you feell you have to leave good or you won't receive what you deserve. I am very happy that you posted what ebay sent you though I think that its great now that i know that I'll still get my positives for buying and speedy payment. Its been nice talking with you about this.
I saw your post...kinda funny because buyers/sellers can be so different, so I can relate w/you. I also saw your feedback and think you where in the right. I had a customer tell me I sold her a fake purse, but I showed her the receipt and she went to the store and they said it was real, but she still thinks its a fake. Also, with selling on Ebay, I think the thing to do is buy from Gymboree 60% items (big sale right now w/extra 20%) then buy the gym code online for 5.00, and you'll save so much becaue right now they are doing Gymbucks (which you can resell for wuit a bit more)
you have to be able to see and understand both sides, bit agreed - waiting for an item for 3 weeks is NOT acceptable. Unfortunately there is no way for ebay to enforce any type of an inventory policy, therefore, many sellers sell items they do not have, hoping that they would get a sale, then run to a store to purchase this item - i know of someone who did that with Gymboree, until someone caught her and she is history. "fell behind" is NOT an excuse. "fell behind" likely means that store did not have those needed items.
There are, however many many, MANY sellers that are honest and sell product they actually own, and with new feedback change policy the will suffer - since buyers are different, and naturally, in any business - you can't please everyone. There will be buyers that ar eunhappy with minute things, or those that would INSIST that your product is FAKE (even though its real with proof - in case of a purse described in another reply), and will leave you negative feedback just for the h_ll of it, and you, the seller, will not have an ability to properly respond to it.
How many sellers think that new feedback policy is fair?
Hi, I don't lke the new feedback system either! I never got a negative, but I got a neutral which was totally unfair, and now is counted as a negative with the new system. I got a negative because the jacket I sold to this lady got there after Christmas. It wasn't my fault, though. She selected parcel post and I shipped parcel post. Although she had the priority mail option in the listing also, she didn't select it. She paid for item the Saturday night before Christmas and I mailed it on Monday, obviously I could not have done any better. So now my feedback went from 100% positive to 99.2%positive. I don't know how long I will sell on ebay if this new policy is going to work against me, I think I will give up by the end of the year, it doesn't seem like it's worth the aggravation. Good luck to all, buyers and sellers, I know there are many great buyers and sellersout there, I am just afraid of the bad ones that will leave negative feedback for no reason.
Wow! I didn't know that neutral is now going to be counted as negative! That's a little unfair! Well, it sounds like you did everything you could on shipping that jacket. I've been trying to find a way to make the feedback system fair for all, but I haven't thought of any ideas (not that my ideas would do anything). I hope you decide to stick with the selling. We need good honest sellers (and buyers)!
yes, neutral is now going to be counted as negative! I never left or recieved negative feedback and my feedback dropped, so that's when I realized this. I don't know if the feedback system will ever be fair for all symply be. ebay will not intervene each and every time someone reports they recieved an undesirved feedback. I hope some miracle will happen and I will actually start making decent money selling on ebay by the end of the year, otherwise, I've decided I will stop selling, I'll just keep whatever is left for my kids. Yes, we need good honest sellers (and buyers), but right now, ebay is making more than I am, it seems that many sellers drop their prices way bellow what makes it worth while. I started selling on ebay to make some extra cash, but it is taking way more time than I expected--to the point that I'm earning bellow minimum wage, so I don't feel is worth it. I love some of my customers and I am not bitter about it, I've met some great ebayers. It's a learning experience, but I will probably decide to go back to work, put my kids in daycare, and start making money--not the ideal situation, but a way of living. After all, I've spent a lot of time in school to earn a graduate degree, so I should use it. I am amazed though, the nerve some sellers have to leave negative feedback and treat their buyers poorly, and the words they use... I looked at your feedback, it was unfair... Good Luck! :)
