My October baby is turning 16 this Fall and has decided on a Halloween themed party in our basement. Any good ideas for decorating or foods or anything to help create the perfect haunted birthday bash? BTW, I am doing this party on a really tight budget...that's why I'm starting now! Thanks for any help!

Search the internet under Halloween for cute receipies to serve, such has a sugar cookie with Hersheys kiss on top to look like a witches hat. Sometime garage or moving sales will have people selling items they don't want or use. In our case, since I love Halloween, I sometimes buy too many decorations and don't use all them so I sell them at sales. Do you have a dollar store in your area? After July 4th, you will see items coming up for sale. I do a gift bag for my Bunco group and put in items like pencils, suckers, plastic toys and more to give away. Nothing big, just fun stuff!!! Also look for candles in fall colors to decorate with! I love parties so I wish you luck!!

Allrecipes.com has a lot of Halloween recipes, and some party ideas. If you don't mind looking on forums, HauntForum.com has some recipe ideas and lots of decorating ideas. You don't have to register to browse the forum; you only have to register if you want to post. Between the two sites, you should see something that would fit your budget and time allowance.
I'm so glad that you're doing this for your daughter; my birthday is in October too, and I'll never forget the great costume parties my parents had for me!

Check out my auctions for some interesting stuff. I can certainly do a Halloween/Sweet 16 party on the cheap. BTW -- I like the way your daughter thinks... Macabre...

A cool and cheap little decoration thing you can do is take some dry ice, put it in warm water, add a little food coloring, then put in a few squirts of liquid hand soap. The end result is really cool looking colored bubbles that ooze out of the container! Just be careful where you put it because the food coloring will stain.

I love things that ooze. No matter how pleasant the topic, the word ooze can make it seem disgusting and unseemly. No October sweet 16 party would be complete without oozing things. Even Kitty litter cake has to take a back seat to ooze... :-)

Hi, I have a couple of ideas for you. You can get some black poster board and cut out a bunch of bats, hang them from the ceiling with fishing line, you can also do rats and tape them around the baseboards, go to Martha Stewart.com, there a patterns there for her silhouettes. Another is, go in to the woods and get some big creepy looking branches, you can spray paint them black or not, then pick up some orange or purple cheapy light set and put all over them. I set mine in clay pots, fill it with rocks or something weighty to hold them up,I make mine about 6 ft, set them everywhere they make a big impact in the dark, you can also put black posterboard ravens in your trees. One more is for the bathroom. One time I took my regular lightbulb out and put in a black light bulb, I hung a fishing net from the ceiling, and hung all kinds of plastic bugs, faces whatever you can think of. Also loose fishing line that touches you kind of freaks people out in the dark. Hope I helped.
