YEA! the speed metal/thrash,80's/early 90's is what I prefer to listen to,KREATOR,OVERKILL,FLOTSAM & JETSAM,others! Even with some bands that are still around or have come back, the old stuff is all I listen to,the bands/singers from that 'era'.Of course, not just the speed/thrash stuff,so much of the 'old' METAL is what I prefer, still.I MISS the WHOLE SCENE! ah,the good 'ole days.(Ratt,Dokken,Iron Maiden yes! Nelson, sorry, not for me).MALMSTEEN,DORO,still listen to,MANY OTHERS! and yeah, including KICK AXE!!!!! GLAD to see someone else here mentioned them!!

Are you kidding? The 80's was THEEEEE decade for the BEST metal ever! Not just "Hair Metal" either, but ALL metal. The ONLY 4 good Metallica albums...from the 80's, Megedeth's best albums...from the 80's, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Crue, Ozzy, Sabbath, Queensryche, Testament, etc. ALL of the best material from all these bands, and many, many more were produced between 1980 and 1989. Only until recently have some of these bands returned to their roots and are re-embracing the sounds and styles that made them great back then.
80's stuff was and still is the best! My son always comments when he hears me playing some Dokken or George Lynch stuff how good the guitar playing is. The only new stuff that even sounds half way decent to me is Avenged Sevenfold...
Old scorps with Uli is the only way to go. I also love the breed of guitar players that came out of the 80's. Music today has to rely on marketing so much that the true shredder has been lost in the mix of American Idol and teen no talent pop stars. And who's ever bright idea it was to mix rock\metal with rap should be shot.
