First off, every single one of you who has mentioned Bon Jovi in this METAL post needs to be put out of his/her misery. Bon Jovi isn't metal. Never has been, never will be. That being said, every good metal band can be traced directly back to the 80's, whether it be directly, as in bands that started out then, or by influence. Metallica, Megadeath, DIO, Metal Church, Van Halen (the less pop stuff), Judas Priest, etc., all started out in the 80's, then let the torch of the metal gods fizzle thereafter. Listen to newer groups such as Bang Camaro, you'll definitely hear echoes of the arena metal that we all remember from the 80's, even if we weren't actually there

I actually went to the Ratt & Poison show. I had fun, I danced, took pix of the bands. It was cool. La Bam was seated in my row. It was a blast! Great seats got 15 min before show after ticketmaster released their tix block hold. Disturbed show in two weeks! Can't wait!

I like it... but thrash metal along the lines of Kreator, Destruction, and Morbid Saint. Thrash metal with a raspy bite... and then speed metal along the lines of Helloween. Hair metal however is pretty boring, in my view.

80's Heavy Metal will always be apart of the continuous circle of music. A close friend of mine who is in his early thirties toured with Stephen Pearcy and the Ratt Bastards. He said that meeting Pearcy was a great honor and listening to RATT as a kid introduced him to other genres of the sweet sound of metal music.
While he was on tour with the Bulletboys 2 months ago, he met Vinnie Paul of PANTERA at a gig in San Antonio TX. Vinnie was there to support the touring talent. One of the all time great Hardcore Metal musicians is still giving love to the old music back in the day.

Great question.....and my answer is YEA!

80's Metal gets a "YEAH!" and a \m/ from me! Seriously, it's hard to find new bands that aren't just stupid sheep that follow what everyone says is popuar, like the miserable acting whiny Emo kds. Back then, at least from what I heard, it was about the music, and a liitle about the "coolness". Your band had to have an image, but it couldn't get in the way of the music. Bear with me, I was born at the end of the 8's, but I know what I'm talking about. Yeah, RATT is a good band, also Priest, Maiden, Dio, and others probably listed here around 30 times... but i know a singer for the ban caled Infinity Squared (the metal one, not the techno or hip-hop one lol) that has a six-octave range and knows his stuff. And boy, can he sing! Brand-spankin' new band too! but the lot of them are true as true and skilled as anything.

Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Venom and most other speed and thrash bands are still relevant and awesome. Bon Jovi, Warrant, Poison etc. etc. are embarrassing cheese machines.
