Everyone has a favorite place to hike. Where is yours?
Useful Funny
I love hiking at Big Bend National Park. This is a fantastic place to visit. I have been doing so since the early 80's. The eco systems that collide here are interesting to see. A favorite hike starts in the desert and rises over 1000 feet into the mountain forest. Nothing like seeing desert plants growing next to mountian trees and plants. Every season is different and presents different challenges. Mountain temp in the summer averages in the mid 80s while the desert will be in over 100. Winters bring snow, but often short sleeves can be worn if you stay in the desert. Play your cards right and you can see plenty of wildlife. Anyhitng from black bear to javalina right at your feet practically. The sunsets through the window are amazing. The 4x4 roads are another challenge.

Petit Jean State Park and Mount Magazine state Park are local areas for us to hike as well as the Ozark National Forest. Each of these are spectacular hikes with fall coming on. Oh can't forget the Ouachita National Forest.

Also loved the Los Padres National Forest Ojai California when i was there.

Hey Mount Shasta!!! My old stompin' grounds...use to LOVE to hike around Hat Creek (just past Shingletown). Now I love to hike through woods here in North Idaho hunting for Morel mushrooms. We got a pretty good haul this year. Even took pictures!!

I'm an east coaster and love to go out west to explore but my favorite place is still close by. I will always love the Roan Mountain area on the AT and anywhere around Mt. Rogers VA. I like the balds at 6000 Ft and the nice crisp weather even when its hot in the valleys. Anywhere thats not work is good with me though. :)

Living in the Pacific NW, there are many great places to hike! I especially enjoy the Columbia Gorge (waterfalls!), Central Oregon and the Goat Lakes wilderness.

I live in Polk County TN 1 mile from the Cherokee National Forest. There are so many trails in this area I've lived here for 7 years and still haven't hiked them all!! You can go up for hours, along creeks for hours , along the Hiwassee River in the fall is awsome!! Lots of secluded waterfalls, cliffs and the best part is the solitude. My dog (Colt) and I are usually the only souls for miles. Lots of campgrounds to boot!! Steven & Colt

The Pacific Crest Trail from Castella California to the Canadian border. It takes about three months. The scenery and hiking will change your life!

I really love the Olympic Peninsula.

Here you will find Pacific Ocean beaches, rain forest valleys, glacier-capped peaks and a stunning variety of plants and animals. Roads provide access to the outer edges of the park, but the heart of Olympic is wilderness; a primeval sanctuary for humans and wild creatures alike.

Hi , we live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. The Canadian Rockies are very close so naturally that is the place we go hiking the most. Some of our favorite places to hike are Banff National Park, Waterton National Park and also The Kananaskis Country. We also go hiking in Eastern British Columbia 9 Yoho and Kootenay National Parks). Amongst our Favorites for dayhikes are Plain of Six Glaciers in Banff, Carthew Alderson in Waterton and for Backpacking Berg Lake in Mt. Robson Provincial Park in BC and Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park in BC Andy and Lupita in Calgary.

One of my favorite place is Arctic Sweden. I completed the Kungsleden trek last year. 70 miles of trekking in Septemner and 220 miles of skiing in March.
The Fitz Roy and Torres Del Paine in Argentina and Chile were great too.
But Being an Alaskan, I'm going to have to say the Chugach Range in south central Alaska is my number one spot.

I love hiking pretty much everywhere! and i have hiked all over the U.S. but I really love hiking around Mt. Rainer, I prefer to backpack, it combines my love of camping and adventure and hiking. The entire area around Mt. Rainer is absolutely beautiful, really anywhere in Washington is.
