currently, I have an Onkyo ht-r410. I am trying to find a better rec with hdmi out or at least component out. I don't need 7.1 and I am trying to keep cost down. Any ideas for a "bang for the buck" a/v rec?

From my experience, I have always been fond of Yamaha receivers in that they seldom ever have major problems unless you abuse them (hook them up wrong). They are not cheap but will deliver on demand. The cheapest in price for a receiver that will do hdmi pass through video switching and not up conversion will be either sony or pioneer. Now don't confuse pioneer elite or sony es because they are the very best the their respected lines of home audio receivers. ( I currently own a Sony ES receiver and am totally sold on it). Be aware of the fact that you do get what you pay for no matter what you think or feel is worth it. Cheaper receivers also have a lower tolerance for user error when it comes to speaker connections or any other hook up issues that are not proper. When in doubt, consult an expert.
Better to ask and be sure than guess and blow more money needlessly.

Instead of replacing your receiver, consider purchasing just an HDMI switcher; you can get reasonably priced remote-controlled ones from monoprice.com.

If you havent bought a reciever yet if you go to circuit city or best buy you can buy their display models this time of year, manufacturers are comeing out with new product, for example my business partner just picked up a $650 onkyo reciever for 469, ulra thx hdmi switching 5.1,6.1,7.1 125 watts a channel, always ask for a lower open box price then what they have listed, best part units come with full manufacturers waranty.
