For all of you horror fans out there, I want to know what your favorite
director(s) are and why. We all have a favorite. Whether it be for creativity, unique sense of style, great movies... Mine inlcude John Carpenter, Wes Craven and George A. Romero.
Useful Funny
Lucio Fulci - The Godfather of gore is my favorite. His gore, atmosphere & sense of despair in his films are second to none. Thats true horror.
Dario Argento - his style of visuals, sets & photography are unique in their own way. a true maestro!
George Romero - This is the cat that got me into this genre to begin with! His Dawn of the Dead is the all time classic, in my mind & many others, and the satire in his films are classic!

These are the guys that do it for me

Carpenter is always fun(even the misfires),David Cronenberg is always facinating, and David Lynch is watchably weird genius. When is Brian DePalma going to return to our fold? And God bless George Romero(I forgive you for 'Bruiser")!But my two faves are Stanley Kubrik and Sam Peckinpah(imagine if he directed a horror film!!)

I think the true master is John Carpenter, he has consistly kept to the genre and didn't sell out to the Hollywood movie machine. Even his lesser movies have some really good moments {Ghost Of Mars}. David Cronenberg is the total master of really lurid sick in your face shock horror, athough Spider was one of the worst movies I've ever viewed, but Videodrome and Scanners are 2 of the alltime classics of modern day horror flix, oh shoot, I forgot to mention his amazing version of the fly. Fulci is a really good European director of Zombie films. Never forget seeing Zombie for the first time at the movies and that horrifying scene of the zombie pulling the womans eye onto that huge piece of wood, to this day I still get the shivers thinking about it. Kubrick did a real good job with The Shining, truly a scary masterpiece.
