In February our first and only baby was born. We have been waiting months for this to happen and I was so worried I was making myself sick. Reading books and asking other people for information. Well it happened I woke up at around 2 am and looked out the back window but could not see anything. All of our other horses were standing watching the barn including our donkey. None of them moved for 2 hours and around 4 am I looked out and I saw our mare head so I thought everything was fine. For some reason I looked again in a half hour and at first I thought she was laying down but her head looked small. Then I moved the flashlight up and saw the her standing up with a small one lying down. Needless to say I yelled and woke everyone up in our house. The baby and mom did a great job.
what a beautiful thing to see if you get to ever get to watch when i lived in Iowa we had sometimes 30, 50 and more head of horses and i as a child would stay out with the mare all night until she had her baby and even after she had her baby i would stay till morning my parents were always looking for me thinking i ran away or was kidnapped they were always so mad at me when they found me sleeping out with the horses. but anyway good luck imprinting your new baby enjoy
