Hi anyone out there knows if you can add a OME cd changer to a jaguar xj8 that didn't come with one? The current radio have a button control for CD buth only a cass.player.Are the wires pre ran to the trunk? I like to buy a CD changer but don't want to remove OME system

Yes, you can add a CD Changer. When I purchased my 1999 XJ* it did not have a CD Changer so I had the Jaguar dealer in Florida install one. They did not install it in the side of the luggage compartment. Instead they mounted it in the top of the trunk just in front of the truck lid. If you install a CD changer yourself you will need to take the car to a Jaguar dealer to have them program the audio system to see the cahnger and activate the CD keys you mentioned.

I was in the same situation with my wife's 2000 XJ8. I went to the dealer and they wanted way to much,so I called Coventry West and they set me up with the CD player, the bolts to mount it and the trunk liner you will need for the drivers side of the trunk. The wires are there, just mount it( I think there was 3 or 4 bolts, plug it in and play. All of the controls on the dash unit will work,as well as the controls on the steering column.Good luck!

The wires are located way in left rear high up in the trunk. Feel around for the end connector piece. I believe it is a DENSO but may be an Alpine. I have made the addition in a 98 VDP, but remember that you will have some hassle with the mounting of the changer unit, plus the interior trim of the trunk is a genuine pain to make look good.

The 1999 through 2003 jags used an ALPINE changer and the wiresa are in the lef sideof the trunk.I have already replced the cartridges once and the only one to fit is Alpine so this confirms it.
There are no radio codes used in the 1998-2001 years so you should be ok by just hooking the cable harness to an Alpine changer and your off...
